Bourbon Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout with Cacao Nibs, Dulce de Leche, Coffee, and Sea Salt

Caramel Mocha Wednesday elevates our beloved Days of the Week series to new heights. This 18.3% ABV bourbon barrel-aged imperial stout indulges with cacao nibs, dulce de leche, coffee, and a kiss of sea salt. Aromas of coffee and caramel lead to a sip bursting with dark chocolate, sweet caramel, and roasty coffee notes. Pair this rich brew with crispy pork belly for a midweek treat that's anything but ordinary.

From the 12.7 oz bottle in a snifter with a big thanks to Bluejacket74!
This beast pours a deep blackish brown with a subtle head of khaki foam
that subsides to a thin ring with some nice legs. Nose of astringent booze,
bourbon, sweet cocoa, subtle oak, light salt, deep caramel, subtle char, deep
roast, and rich brulee dashed with vanilla and muted coffee. Flavors hit
the mark with rich warming bourbon, oak, vanilla, coffee, toffee, char,
brulee, dark berry notes of blackberry and raspberry, and salted chocolate covered
caramel (my favorite!). Mouth feel is full, moderately slick, coating, warming,
faint carbonation, and a warming medium dry finish.

Overall, another stunner from a stunning brewery!

Cheers

12.7 ounce bottle, 2025 edition, bottled 12/20/24. Served in a snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch cola-like tan head that fizzled away somewhat quickly. Not much lacing at all. Aroma is nice, it smells like caramel, mocha, roasted malt, cream, sea salt, coffee and some bourbon. For the most part the taste is similar to the aroma, but there's also some oak and burnt/charred malt flavors noticeable too. I think the caramel stands out in both the taste and aroma, followed by the mocha and then all the other flavors. It's sweeter tasting but not overpoweringly so. Mouthfeel/body is full, it's slick and a bit syrupy with a moderate amount of carbonation. The alcohol is well hidden here too, sure doesn't seem like it's as strong as it is when drinking it! Thought this was pretty good, if you like caramel or any of the big Bruery imperial stouts in general then make sure to try this one!
