From the 12.7 oz bottle in a snifter via Bluejacket74! Cheers Dude!
This monster brew pours a coal black with dark tea highlights and a
very nice head of light brown foam that settles to a thick ring, thin layer,
and sport some nice lacing. Nose of dark coffee, nutty malts, subtle char,
dark cocoa, and earthy malts. Flavors hit the mark with dark coffee, dark
cocoa, nutty malt notes, subtle brulee, moderate char, deep roast, and
earthy malt notes. Mouth feel is full, smooth, coating, rich, medium light
soft carbonation, and a moderately dry roasted driven finish that lingers
with the bitter coffee notes nicely.

Overall, a stellar brew from a phenomenal brewery!
Straight up imperial with coffee.....NICE!

Cheers

A: Poured into a snifter to a black beer which is topped by a dense and rocky two fingers of dark tan head which retains well and leaves excellent lacing
S: Smells of coffee, chocolate, and roasted malts.
T: Taste is very coffee forward with some dark chocolate, roasted malts, and hints of charred wood with a hint of sweetness. On the finish there's more coffee, dark chocolate, charred wood, slight sweetness, and a little burnt sugar.
M: This beer has a body which is on the heavier side of things with a creamy feel on the palate. Carbonation is adequate and just slightly prickly while the beer has a drying finish.
O: Overall this is just a straighforward, no nonsense coffee stout. Very good flavors and some nice complexity with no discernible faults.

Black color. Medium-sized, beige head. Strong aroma of coffee and roasted malt. Espresso like taste with sharp coffee/roasted bitterness. Coffee is a bit overwhelming here.

12.7 ounce bottle, 2025 edition, bottled 01/24/25. Served in a snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch and a half tan head that stayed around a long time. There's also a lot of lacing. I like the aroma a lot, the brew smells mostly like coffee along with some dark chocolate, roasted malt and some earthiness. Taste is pretty much just like the aroma, but with the addition of some burnt/charred malt and dark bready flavors. Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, it's creamy and a bit coating with a good amount of carbonation. I liked this imperial coffee stout a lot, certainly worth picking up especially if you like coffee brews!

12.7oz bottle from the brewery, pours dark brown/black with a giant tower of dark khaki head. This is all espresso, all the time, simple epic amounts of roasted and freshly-ground coffee; dry, bitter, and roasty. A bit thin in the body with a touch of booze, but it works really well together. As a huge coffee beer fan, I loved it!

this is cool in its simplicity, like so many things these guys do now are adjunct bombs, barrel bruisers, and beers where a little is still a lot, this one is more straight ahead, dare i even call it old school, and its more drinkable as a result, which is an odd thing to say about an imperial stout, but even at over 10% abv this feels lighter for these guys, a nice change of pace really, and perfect for deep winter which wont quit right now. gorgeous pour, satin near black with less viscosity than a lot of theirs have had and more head too, frothy and lighter brown, pretty to look at, more approachable maybe, again weird to say but so much of their beer is just colossal. the aroma is dark black drip coffee, this doesnt appear as special, new school, natty process, profile roasted, nothing like that, its just dark and almost generic coffee, the interesting part is the massive dose, its coffee before its beer, fresh too, with subtle dark chocolate and leather to it, a little roast double jeopardy with the dark grain in here too hitting a similar note, but this is cozy without being sweet or boozy, and i like how bold the coffee is. maybe a little acid in the flavor and mouthfeel from the coffee, but it has concentrated almost cold brewed flavors, still with some warmth and richness, even that sweet intoxicating off gassing fresh roasted bean thing you get when walking the grind your own coffee aisle at the grocery store, but again not wildly interesting on the coffee side, just good and strong. dark chocolate, pipe tobacco, subtle raisin but this isnt fruity or sweet, early onset bitterness, just a little alcohol in play too. the coffee has nice linger, a serious roasted intensity, a deep tongue penetrating power, and indeed a bit of a caffeine hit too, a real upper that also adds to its winter season appeal. as it warms a bit i get trace almond and hazelnut and a more milk chocolate thing, some coffee nuance coming out, but its roast first for sure, nice and bitter. subtle umami, soy or even mushroom if i think about it, pretty full of character and overall a great beer that appeals to me for its lack of barrel, vanilla, lactose, marshmallow, all the usual dessert junk thats been trending for awhile. ill be drinking my share of this one...
