375mL bottle (2025 vintage) into a tulip. Pours an opaque black with a minimal head that vanishes quickly.
Aroma is rich and nutty with notes of dark fruits, black cherries, bitter chocolate, rum-soaked pipe tobacco, and oaky char. Intrigued to see what happens when this opens up a bit as it warms.
Taste is likewise a blend of sweet and bitter, almost savory, with fresh berries, chocolate, vanilla, and booze. Dessert-like—reminiscent of a dark chocolate cake with raspberries and whipped cream. A somewhat vinous/Port-like quality as it warms,
Mouthfeel is sticky and slick, coats the palate with a warming finish.
Overall, this is a unique and delicious beer. Almost overwhelming in a good way.
