possibly an idaho location exclusive, ive never seen brewing equipment here but they have the barrels there that they do the straight from the barrel stuff out of, so i wonder if this is just some kind of blend they put together for this spot, which is rad. its a blend of stouts in port, rye, and bourbon barrels, and its done with hazelnuts, milk chocolate, and coconut, rich and tasty, well layered with all three barrels making an impact, not overdosed on the extras, sweet and strong but not obnoxiously so on either front, really smooth and really good. very dark brown, some patchy tan head on the top but not real carbonated, no surprise in this style, slick and dense looking. aroma of roasted hazelnut and cocoa together, well achieved and very adult, high quality ingredients on display, not the typical flavored stout profile, more ingredient forward, nutty like actual nuts, and i think the coconut is unifying with the hazelnut, chocolate, and also the barrels, great mix of elements in this, bourbon forward but i certainly get the fruity and tannic port wine too, more of that in the flavor, subtle vanilla and molasses and smoke here, espresso crema, dark soil, lots going on. the flavor is wonderful, heavy bourbon up front, coconut pops here too. the second half is really port driven, dark red berry and plum, some sweetness from it, love how prominent it is, some subtle walnut character to it, lots of roast in this stage too, some rye spice way back, balanced, the alcohol comes on only slowly, and its warm at the end for sure, lovely recall of coffee and roast and actual hazelnuts, possibly even max hazelnut is on the aftertaste, awesome. lots of body, light late astringency with the port wine influence, coconut adding tropical vibes as it warms a bit. fun beer overall, great blend and cool mix of extras. killer beer list here at the idaho location this recent visit!
