a blend of different vintages of bayonet aged in buffalo trace barrels, i think an exclusive blend to the idaho location. big bourbon character, vanilla all through it, sweet and decadent, with the more mature beer in the blend being exceedingly viscous and woody, while the younger beer is more whiskey forward and brown sugary, cool blend really, very cohesive of course, kind of a best of both worlds thing, some oak tannins and even spiciness, but fancy vanilla bean aromas and dark cocoa and molasses richness in the flavor, loaded with malt complexity beyond just the roast, high end espresso, caramel, and brownie, long on the palate, heavy in the mouth and belly, so a slow sipper, but at this strength that was always going to be the case, and i like the pace, any faster and we would miss things. wrinkles of cigar, toasted coconut, german chocolate cake, and cocoa nibs with some of that bitterness in here too. almost oily, near still, and warm with alcohol kick. i think its neat they are doing their own blends and stuff in here, assuming with permission from the mothership, not sure who is doing the actual work, but this is excellent, although it definitely helps to start with barrel stock this good. tasty stuff, i have to think quantities are limited, so go get some while you still can! loads of body, barrel, maturity, and vanilla richness, well done! some heavy hitting beers on this recent visit!
