Clear brown ale with plenty of foam in the Scotch thistle glass. Pleasant warm and grainy aromas with apple pie. Slightly sweet with rich malty taste. Roasted grain and a caramel finish, but enlivened by the fruity and tangy flavors. A touch of fruit cake and smoke. This Scotch Ale is full of flavors and highly drinkable. It is on the sweet side, but the fruity is tasty, and it's like a Winter Warmer. From the 32 oz crowler can purchased at the Costa Mesa tasting room where this one was brewed.

8oz pour in a jam jar at the Costa Mesa location.
Very dark amber or medium brown, murky, small creamy tan head, fine carbonation. Smell is graham cracker and burnt sugar, somewhat bready or on the yeasty side with doughy.
Taste is moderate date and toffee sweetness, maybe some nuts (pecans? kind of sweet).
Mouthfeel is interesting. Not thin at all, but a slight dryness to it. Overall, not bad.

refreshingly light for a scotch ale. still has a full feel though. dark and malty with a spicy finish.
