16oz can from Jeremy. Hazy, pale golden pour, foamy white head. Aroma is tropical fruit, some resinous hops. Taste is mildly sweet, more of the tropical fruit, hops add a bit of zing.

Type: 12-oz. can
Glass: Clear 16.5-oz. Belgian ale tulip
From: 5 Star Liquor in La Mesa, Calif.
Price: $12.49 for a 6-pack
Purchased: March 24, 2018
Consumed: March 24, 2018
Reviewed as: New England Double / Imperial IPA
Misc.: No canned on date
Reluctantly picked up a sixer of this, despite there not being a canned on date. Had reviewed three of their beers to varying scores (3.63, 3.77 and 4.06), and another flight at their place with similar ratings. Wasn’t expecting much from this, but hoping for more since I got a 6-pack and not just one. Untappd description read, “New England Style Double IPA with Equanot and Mosaic.” Well Mosaic is my favorite hop and I like Ekuanot (not so much Equanot) hops from what I can remember, especially with other hops.
Poured a straw-to-pale hazy color with 2-to-3 fingers of rocky white head. Lots of bubbles coming up along the sides of the glass. World-class uneven layered spiderweb lacing. World-class foamy retention. (Sight - 4.50)
Smelled lime, wet grass, trash, orange blossom, floral, green peppers (what?), mixed berry and hints of bubblegum. As always, more flavorful out of the can with lime, mango, guava and orange creamsicle coming in. (Smell - 3.50)
Tasted a bit better than the nose, but not much. Followed the nose with lime, wet grass, green peppers, orange blossom, papaya, bubblegum, mango rind, guava, pine and viney mixed berry. Does not taste 8.4 pct. ABV. (Taste - 3.75)
Medium body. Oily-to-creamy texture. Average carbonation. Dry finish. (Feel - 3.75)
A very good New England Style beer, but plenty of better options out there. (Overall - 3.75)

12 ounce can poured into a tulip
Pours a super hazy, turbid dull orange color with a full creamy head, lots of lacing, decent retention, not much carbonation. Lots of tropical notes, big guava notes, tangerines, lime, orange peel, papaya, touch of berries and pine, not getting any malts, it's all sweet, tropical and citrusy hop notes. Not as complex and deep as the notes, guava, sweet citrus, moderate amount of citrus peel like bitterness, finish has more tropical notes and a touch of pine. Mouthfeel is medium body with a very dry citrus peel like finish, low carbonation, despite the moderate bitterness it does leave that raked feeling on the palate.
I think The Yellow Can NE IIPA is better, this is not as smooth on the mouthfeel, lacks some depth, and I'd bumped it up if it was a little easier on the palate but it leaves a raked feeling.
