LAWSONS ROOSKI BLACK IPA 6/3/19
Bought at the brewery 5/26/19. First bomber I have purchased in years.
Poured from the 22 oz. bomber into a Lawson's willi.
a; Opaque black with hints of clear ruby red at the bottom. Huge three inche offwhite head receded to thick surface foam and dense lacing.
s: Mild roasty malt and citrus leaning slightly to orange.
t: Malt takes a backseat to the citrusy hops but continues to make its presence known. Slight bitterness lingers on the sweetish finish.
m; Lighter side of medium, good body and some carbonation tingle.
o; Sean Lawson nailed the style better than any I have had. Mild roastiness is beautifully balanced by the fruity hops. I imagined the name was intended to suggest a Russian Imperial Stout, but this is definitely more correctly called what it is.
