Several years ago, we introduced a velvety Irish nitro stout to our taproom-only menu. Named after Sean Lawson’s grandmother, Isobell McPeake (a.k.a Mamma Bell) who emigrated to the United States from Ireland, McPeake’s Nitro Stout quickly gained popularity among visitors. Since then, it has been a year-round dark beer option for those who swing by the taproom. The hope was to one day can and share the delicious Irish stout with the rest of our fans. Five years later, we have accomplished just that!
Our Nitro Irish Stout utilizes authentic Irish Malts to deliver notes of chocolate and roast that are elevated by a dose of nitrogen during canning. Infused with liquid nitrogen for a velvety mouthfeel, we encourage you to shake gently and pour vigorously from the can.

Pours as black as midnight oil with a coffee colored head.
Malted whole grain toasted bread, caramel malt, roasted nuts, and herbal hops in the nose.

Picked up a four pack at Whole Foods cooler on Hendersonville Road 2-25-26 for $14.49. Canned on 2-3-26; consumed can #1 for review 3-25-26. Served at 57 degrees.
Beer can was gently shaken and poured vigorously into an imperial pint glass in which a pretty long-lasting pour was made.
Nose has notes of roast and bitter cocoa.
Taste is a medium roasted dark malt base in which bitter chocolate is the dominant flavor. Hopping works in unison with the bitter malts and leaves a dark cocoa bitter edge behind.
Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied and not overly smooth.
Overall, this hits all the style points of the Irish Stout, very flavorful!

16oz canned 1-14-26, opened 3-7-26.
2 finger tan, perfect collar with long retention. Dark brown body, black at it's core.
MIld aroma of roasted malt, woodsy, with a hint of earthy coffee.
Sweet and roasty malts, cocoa powder with a little astrigency mid-palate.
Medium body with a smooth, velvety mouthfeel and low but creamy carbonation.
Mild roasty and sweet medium-length finish.
Very Good.

Pours pitch black with a partial nitro cascade and three-finger khaki head.
Aromas of mill and semi-dark chocolate, cocoa, and coffee.
On the palate, it is subtle to start, with some chocolate, cocoa, and black bread. Honestly not a lot going on until near the finish, where I get pumpernickel, some roasted coffee, and a hint of dark fruit. The finish is burnt bread, slight ash, and then a big and surprising hit of campfire smoke that lingers through the aftertaste. As it warms, dark fruit and milk chocolate become more prominent on the finish, blending nicely with the smoke.
It's all about that nitro feel, especially at the front of the sip. I suspect the nitro blend is lower than in the big name Irish stouts as I still get a little carb prickle the tongue. It's a nice balance with some nitro feel while still allowing more flavor through, especially on the finish. Medium-bodied with a dry-ish finish.
Overall, nice take on an Irish dry stout. Could be a bit dryer on the finish and in some ways the nitro blend they chose is a true compromise and disappoints in both directions: not enough nitro to get that classic feel, but enough that it mutes some of the flavors of what would otherwise be a terrific lower abv stout.

Pours a gorgeous jet black with a hefty amount of khaki colored foam on an aggressive pour. Smell is roasted coffee with a little caramel. Taste follows, chocolate and coffee maybe a hint of smoke. The feel here is phenomenal. Smooth and creamy while managing to be dry. Just perfect. An outstanding offering I will certainly seek out again.

A- pours black in color with a huge bubbly khaki nitro head that settles into a two finger foam on top that has great retention
S- chocolate, roasted cereal grains, light char, hint of vanilla & caramel
T- rich bitter-sweet chocolate up front is complimented by undertones of caramel and vanilla. Mid-palate brings out some roasty malt that gives a light coffee note. The finish gives more rich chocolate with a hint of raisin, lingers of chocolate and roast
M- medium body with a silky mouthfeel turns creamy into a velvety finish, high drinkability
O- one of the best Irish dry stouts that I've had, full flavored and extremely drinkable

Picked up a single can at Cedarville Wine and Spirits for about four dollars. My thirty second brew reviewed from these guys. Canned on date of 9/17/25. Very good.

Poured from the can into a nonic(k) pint glass straight down the middle.
Minimal hiss when released, but makes a classic cascading head of neat almost orange khaki colored tall three finger head. Nitrous bubbled formation with a deep deep dark red body particularly noticeable when held to light. Real neat looking brew.
Solid delicious aroma. Light hits of milk chocolate, a touch of breakfast like sweet cereal grain flavor too. Slight hint of nutty character as well for some very interesting variety on the nose for a basic stout.
Palate feels just right. Light bodied with a little bit of creamy mouthfeel, but just a hint. Light touches of milk chocolate, even a hint of milky coffee in the mid palate on first sips. Hints of molasses and brown bread on the finish with a good solid richness. Minimal hints of husky grain and dark fruits but just enoiuigh to make it interesting.

From a can poured into a beer glass.
Apparently no nitro floating widget, perhaps it’s attached to the inside of the can? Having this one on Christmas Eve as a dinner guest in a friends house, do I did not investigate.
A decent head and lacing though.
Similar to Guinness’s, a little more roasted and flavorful though, especially chocolate.
Very enjoyable.
