The genesis of the beer you're holding in your hand was pretty simple. We asked ourselves, "What if a beer tasted like an oatmeal raisin cookie?" The answer to our rhetorical question was to add raisins, lactose and cinnamon to Maduro, our English-style Brown Ale, a beer that showcases flavors of caramel, toffee and chocolate. The combination of the base beer and the additional ingredients resulted in a beer that tastes like it was baked in Grandma's oven.

I thought I was going to call it a night, but I wanted to review another one. I am using a pint glass and serving the beer at 44 degrees. The pour produced a frothy, airy, off-white head with excellent retention. The slow dissipation left lots of lacing on the glass with a light head layer on the liquid. The color is copper red with amber hues, charting at SRM 12, and transparent. The appearance of the brown ale is above average.
Nosing the glass, I notice raisins, cinnamon, oatmeal, toffee, caramel, bread, malty sweetness, and figs. Smelling the beer again, I noticed vanilla, brown sugar, oats, and light roasty notes.
I taste oatmeal, toffee, caramel, cinnamon, raisins, and brown sugar. I am detecting a bit of floral hops, resin, bready, malty sweetness, earthiness, and dates.
The beer's mouthfeel is creamy and soft, finishing somewhat coating and a touch dry. The body is medium-light and medium carbonation.
Final Impression: The beer is what it says it is, an oatmeal cookie in a brown ale. I am glad the brewers used a deft hand with the cinnamon and sweetness, this could have turned into a cloyingly sweet sugar bomb. The cinnamon does lend some dryness to the beer and adds a slightly woody note. I am glad the cinnamon does not come across a dusty barn. Overall, it is a solid offering, but I will pass on getting this again.

does what it says. there's a risk of making something gimmicky here, an ale version of a pumpkin spice white claw (note: i have no idea if this is an actual thing), but the taste isn't cloying at all. fantastic as a nitecap.

Pours an effervescent & chill-hazed hazel with one finger of cream-colored head. Never completely loses the chill haze, below average head retention & lacing
S: Cinnamon & brown sugar, iron notes as well, first time I've smelled this in a brown ale. Nose didn't sell this for me
T: Follows the nose, minus the iron, some vanilla, a little dryness & a lot of oatmeal cookie here up front. Hints of raisin mix in with brown sugar, vanilla & cinnamon as this beer warms up, dryness, perhaps from the lactose? At touch of Pecan Hull bitterness as well, works for balance. Finishes a little dry with cookie sweetness & just a little nutty bitterness
MF: Medium body, slight carbonation, body thins a bit as this beer warms up
Credit where credit is due, they didn't go crazy with the cinnamon, pretty drinkable. If everything else was as good as the flavor, this would've been an A/A+ beer

Shared 355 ml can at Cardinal, Stavanger. Dark brown colour, beige head. Aroma and flavour of cookies (yes, really!), ginger and gingerbread, cinnamon, raisins and vanilla, fairly sweet.
