While I am a frequent repeat customer of Huyghe's Delirium line, finding this St. Idesbald Tripel helps me appreciate more what a smart brewery this is at promoting great brews. While this Tripel is not great, it certainly is excellent. It does everything well, which is unusual. It could become exceptional with a slightly more lively and flavorful yeast.
Somehow missed in 30 years in Chicagoland, I bought this copy at Grape & Grain in Melbourne. St. Idesbald Tripel Looks inviting, but only slightly above my average grade since I am a Belgo-phile and like to think I set a high standard. Nor does its fruits and complexity stand out in its Smells. Tastes are balanced, yet somewhat complex as the yeast kicks in enough of the style's quirky complexion for me to want this again. Medium-mouthed, but very soft.
After I drank this, I had St. Idesbald's Amber... a delight for this malt-head.
