No visible date code. Poured from a 375mL bottle into my Brasseurs de Garde tulip/flute.
Faintly hazy pale gold liquid beneath a fist of ivory. Rocky, crenellated cap; sticky lacing; superior retention.
Floral, lightly funky, faintly fruity and grainy nose - inviting, complex, and well balanced.
Light lactic tartness on the palate entry with hints of melon and mild but persistent bitterness. Low lemon and sourdough notes into the dry finish. Faintly medicinal (hints of band-aid and quinine) at times. Barrel adds some minerality and extends the finish perhaps. Not a lot of barnyard notes or Brett. going on, but still a touch "wild" throughout. Pear/apple/quince notes intensify a bit as the ale warms.
Soft yet light bodied. Well carbonated yet gently creamy.
Tasty, somewhat rustic/wild table beer - though I'd prefer a bigger bottle at the price point and ABV. A good lunch beer, it perhaps pairs better with food than it drinks on its own.

On tap at the source.
A clear light yellow with a dense white head with good retention and lacing this looks great. The nose is bright, tart, lemony, grainy and deep. Raw yet toasted grain, a light rye spice note, a little Brett, aromatic bitter lemon peel. The palate opens tart, bright with a blend of citrus and lactic acid. Bitter citrus peel. Fragrant mid-palate. Drying, light, grainy on the finish. Shocking depth for the ABV.

this is magical, i love getting this much character into a beer this low in alcohol, its wonderful and well worth the price. i love going to oregon and scoring upright beers, i wish they came to idaho, i adore all they do, always have, and this is just the latest in a long strong of hits from them, these little bottles are great too. a barrel aged table saison with unique barley and oats in it, a cool way to showcase special grain, a low alcohol beer like this where the body is as important as the flavor, hard to make something this low so rich and dry, so fluffy and soft, and so layered and nuanced in flavor, its downright impressive. huge head from the bottle on this, definitely seems well bottle conditioned, and the room immediately fills with a horsey bretty funk, light spiciness, and even a light citrus note, the nose is mouthwatering but not sour at all, really mature brett on this, lots of wood coming through too, and it doesnt seem as light as it really is. the flavor is killer too, fermentation driven but the wood is there along with the uniqueness of the grain, earthy and spicy, slightly raw up front, more toasted later on, but dry the whole time, mineral rich, and with enough character to make this dynamic. as it warms i get more funk, real old world farm character to it, but also some citrus, a white wine twang, and a dry herbal layer. this is such cool beer, so much effort and process intensiveness for a beer thats so low in alcohol and drinkable, but i have to say i love it. its unique and its even bold enough to stand up to some extremely spicy thai food. i was blown away by the quality once again from these guys, and like this about as well as anything i have ever had from them, which is really saying something. glad i was able to source this, downright fantastic table beer!
