A generous Chinook dry-hopped IPA gives Rowdy Piper a slightly citrus nose while the malt forward flavour profile gives this beer a balanced smooth finish.

473 mL can from the LCBO; dated Dec 6 2021 and served slightly chilled.
Pours a bright, clear golden-yellow colour, kicking up half a finger of smooth, foamy white head that fades within ninety seconds or so. A thin ring of lace remains behind, along with a frothy, sudsy collar surrounding a filmy cap - looks fine to me. The aroma is subtle but appealing, offering up hints of lemon, grapefruit and grainy, doughy pale malts, with suggestions of piney, floral hops.
It's reasonably flavourful for only 4.2% - I'm getting grainy, doughy pale malt and a light honeyed sweetness at first, with Chinook dry hop flavours dominating the tail end of the sip. There's lemon, white grapefruit and pine needles, with a pithy finish that includes some spicy, floral hop bitterness followed by a relatively clean aftertaste. Light in body, with moderate carbonation levels that briskly tickle the surface of the tongue; feels smooth and a little slick, but the carb gives it a nice, crisp bite. Refreshing to drink, and easy to do so.
Final Grade: 3.76, a B+. Like most Ontario session IPAs, South River's Rowdy Piper is nothing to write home about, but I'd still say it's worth a spin. It's got good balance between its pale malt and (Chinook dry-) hop flavours, resulting in a very crushable, thirst-quenching light ale that I could easily drink all night without complaint. I'm sure I'll drink this again at some point, but I wouldn't search high and low for more.

Pours a dark hay colour with a small loose head. The smell is grainy and corny. The taste dittos the smell, but I can detect hops and a bit of something metallic in the background. Mouthfeel is pleasantly carbonated. The is a nice lower alcohol choice if one is going to have a few

Look: Pale yellow, 1 finger white head that disapates quickly leaving a slight ring after 5 minutes.
Smell: Biscuits, soft floral notes. Very delicate
Taste: Biscuits, grass, white bread.
