Years ago, before the Hazy IPA trend arrived in the Pacific Northwest, Head Brewer Adam McClure brought in the first boxes of Citra and Galaxy ever at Everybody’s Brewing, and with them, a whole new style of brewing. Gone were the traditional kettle additions and single small dry hops. Instead, he brought in oats, wheat, and massive hop charges of super fruity aroma hops. Hoppy AF was a game changer for how we thought about our IPA’s. Our approach has never been the same since.
After a few years of hiatus, we’re proud to release the return batch of Hoppy AF!! With massive amounts of Citra and Galaxy hops in the whirlpool and dry hop, we hope you enjoy this heady Everybody’s original. Cheers!

Poured from a bomber, date bottled is June 5th and opened on Oct. 9th, so we will take that into account. Pour is a cloudy light amber, light head and modest lacing. Aroma of pine hops and a bready malt background. Taste is hop forward allright, but muted and a little past its prime. Our fault, not the beer. We will give it a modest rating and hope to update it with a fresh batch.

Color is hazy amber with plenty of foam. Aroma is a startling noseful of spoiled fruit. Strong taste of fermenting pineapple followed by a bitter buzz saw. This is pretty icky. Hops are supposed to be Galaxy, Citra, and Chinook, but something must have spoiled the broth.
Very sweet to start. There is a persistent candy note with the oddest leafy funk that is really off-putting after a few sips. This version, in the 22 oz bottle, is 7.5%. Purchased at Whidbey Beer in Oak Harbor.

Pretty lemon-gold color. Whitish head with decent peristence.
Smell is very mild, hoppy.
Taste is clean, good integrity, fairly bitter.
Mouthfeel is good but I'd expect more richness and less carbonation from a DIPA. This is more of an IPA than a double. This grew on me after time in the glass, once I stopped thinking of it as a double.
Overall: finish has good integrity, but really mild.
Summary: a decent beer, but on the whole, just not feelin' it.

Poured from the 22oz bottle into a snifter.
Pours a light amber with good clarity and one finger of bubbly head.
Aromas are a lot of sticky malt with some decent hops playing second fiddle.
Taste is in line with aromas. Very much a west coast style IPA, sweet from the malt.
Mouthfeel was good.
A nice representation of a standard west coast DIPA.

22oz bottle served in a pint glass. If there's date, I don't see it.
Pours slightly hazy yellow gold with a medium head and very slow dissipation. Carbonation appears moderate. Smell is powerful. Heavy pine and vegetation, some tropical fruit in the mix in there.
Taste is juicy as hell. Pineapple and orange is prominent for me. There's a little bit of grapefruit skin bitterness, I think.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied and slick. Overall, very good beer.

Pours a slightly cloudy pale orange. Minor head. Aroma is hoppy, as promised, with citrus, earth, bread, malt. Clean and fantastic.
Taste is hoppy as... as any other DIPA you might have had. Grapefruit, dank, bitter coming in, slight pine. Malt. Yet it's very well balanced and the booze sweet mellows what might have bit right back. 8% ABV is present but not overpowering at all. Dry-hops at the end. Slight resin. Very delicious, don't be put off by the name.
This is a pretty great Imperial IPA and I wish it was a lot easier to get.
