English-style barleywine ale aged in bourbon barrels.

Fremont Brewing began as a dream in 2008. Years later, our dream has come true in each and every one of you, our craft beer family. And like every family, we have had our ups and our downs, but we keep coming back together knowing we are stronger together. In your hands is a special nod to you, a gift for now that will continue to give many years from now should you have the patience to wait…Brew 7000. This English-style barleywine ale uses floor-malted English barley, Noble hops, and is aged in 10-15 year-old, single use bourbon barrels for 16 months to bring you a complex and subtle craft beer flavor experience. We brewed this to celebrate brewing our 7000th brew, and we look forward to sharing it with you, our craft beer family. “Barleywine is life.” – VWP

Pretty nice riff on a British-style barleywine but with a distinctively American twist. Lots of rich molasses, bourbon, caramel, and toffee. Nothing too memorable but also nothing off here

Green wax bottle shared with BAs into a small snifter.
L: Pours dark caramel color with a thin beige head that goes to edge foam, very little carbo, essentially no lacing.
S: Caramelized malts, toffee, vanilla, brown sugar, dark dried fruits.
T: Taste follows nose plus some light cocoa, raisin, alcohol heat, a light barrel note.
F: Very smooth medium heavy mouthfeel with a warming long then dry finish.
O: I enjoy the body of this version. It's not too heavy. I didn't sense very much hop action at all here so this is a malty beer, sweet, and not too devilish with alcohol burn. It is outstanding.

The next beer in the vertical is 7000 for the following reviews. I am serving it at 56 degrees in a tulip glass; the pour formed a foamy, half-fingered light tan head with poor retention. The beer's color is dark brown, with dark mahogany-red hues, opaque, and charts at SRM 34. The quick dissipation left no lacing on the glass, and the liquid showed no visible head. The beer's overall appearance is average for this style, considering the high abv. I am noticing a trend: the beer doesn't retain much head after a hard pour.
Swirling the glass, I took a few sniffs. I smell bourbon, toffee, caramel, char, alcohol, chocolate, light-roasted coffee, vanilla, and earthiness. Nosing the glass again, I notice leather, molasses, brown sugar, light tobacco, dark roasted malts, bready, and raisins. The beer does not smell as malty-sweet as 6000.
The barrel flavors are bourbon, oak, and char—next sip: dark fruits, chocolate, date, figs, light-roasted coffee, molasses, and caramel. After a few nips, I notice vanilla, raisins, toffee, dark-roasted malts, bread, and earthiness.
The mouthfeel is chewy and thick, with a smooth, warm finish. The low carbonation complements the barrel aging, seducing you to keep consuming.
Final Impression: The 7000 falls short of the 6000; the alcohol comes through more, and the sweetness dives off. For an English Barleywine, this beer does have that malty sweetness, but the alcohol is a bit stronger and more evident. Overall, this is good, but nothing like 6000.

Bomber from Boise Co-op. Dark brown pour, fine ring of head. Aroma is brown sugar, toffee, raisins, boozy. Taste is sweet, dates, raisins, fig, sweet, molasses, warm. Sweetness lingers on the palate, latent warmth in the gullet. Excellent.

22 ounce bottle into a tulip snifter. Released 4/22/23, had 5/23/25.

Pours a semi opaque dark amber color, with a brief head and some foamy lacing. Aromas of bourbon, caramel, malt, oak, brown sugar, fig, some dates and raisins, light vanilla and leather, a hint of cherry. The flavors mainly follow the nose: bourbon, caramel, brown sugar, malt, oak, figs, some dates, light vanilla and raisins, still a hint of cherry. Has a bit of a spicy taste. Smooth, a solid medium body, well carbonated.

A definite big winner. Not overly intense, but still pretty strong and distinct aromas and flavors- caramel, oak and brown sugar notes stand out. Solid all around and really enjoyable.

Appearance: Pours a clear root beer color with a thin beige film that disappears; leggy but no lace

Smell: Treacle, fig, date and dried cherry embellished by Bourbon and oak

Taste: Dried fruit and treacle forward with the fig and date arriving first with big dried cherry tones emerging, in the middle; the Bourbon and oak arrive, with the swallow, and complement the other flavors through the finish

Mouthfeel: Full bodied with low carbonation; some warmth in the gullet

Overall: I always like to age this beer to let all the elements come together; this is another winner for the anniversary series

Look - Pours a dark brown color with almost no head that quickly disappears to nothing.

Smell - Dark fruit, cherry, spice, bourbon, oak, and malt.

Taste - Bourbon, dark fruit, cherry, brown sugar, oak, and leather.

Feel - A good carbonation, slightly bitter, but a decent brew.

Overall - Not a bad barleywine, but there are some great ones out there.

22oz bottle poured into a snifter

A- pours chestnut brown in color with a one-finger foamy khaki head that reduces to a ring

S- aroma opens with sweet boozy malt notes of caramel, brown sugar and chocolate. Dark fruit notes of raisin, figs and dates. Cherry pipe tobacco and leather lend way to the barrel, which adds notes of old wood, vanilla and peppery bourbon. As it warms, it adds a port or sherry aroma with more dark fruits popping through

T- sweet caramel malts up front with toffee and burnt sugar, immediately followed by dark fruit note of black cherry, figs, raisins and prunes. Mid-palate brings out the barrel, adding old wood, vanilla, more caramel and barrel juice. The finish gives more caramel & toffee and lingers of mature bourbon and dark fruits

M- medium body with moderate carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel that turns slightly creamy into a warming finish

O- freakin fantastic compliment to this Jack Johnson concert that I'm streaming

Pours brown with a mild fog to the translucency. Head is two fingers of off-white foam. Aroma is fig, raisins, molasses, and caramel. There is mild earthy malts mixed in as well for a touch of dryness. Barrel is present, but mild, adding some bitter complexity to the back. As a whole, the aroma leans sweet. Flavor profile carries that same sugary sweetness with a little barrel complexity behind. Fig, molasses, caramel, and soft toffee all mingle in the front loaded sugary end. Char, barrel, and mild toasty malts add some additional depth, especially to the backend, countering the initial sweetness well. Mouth feel is medium-thick. Texture is semi-creamy with a light effervescence. Overall, a well constructed, balanced barleywine that gives off both sweet and bitter notes.

Served in a 15.5oz Spiegelau tulip from a 22oz bottle. Reviewed from notes.

Cellared a year. Clear light brown pour, tan cap. Smells of molasses, bourbon, caramel, raisin, and barley. Taste is centered on bourbon, dark fruits, and caramel, with barley, oak, and subtle earth with golden raisin emerging as it warms. Feel is warm in a mildly boozy way, very smooth with malts especially, drier as it should be. The wife liked it

22oz bottle into a tulip. Pours a murky mahogany brown with a minimal head, leaves behind a sugary coating on the inside of the glass if I tilt it.

Aroma is a blend of brown sugar and sour cherries, instantly giving me flashbacks of a recent bad bottle of 2016 So Happens It’s Tuesday but I’d be surprised if Fremont released an infected beer, I don’t think I’ve had one from them yet. Mostly molasses and caramel, some vanilla.

Taste thankfully has none of the sourness I thought I’d detected on the nose. No, this beer is heavy on the sugars, unapologetically so. Brown sugar, caramel, molasses, toffee, vanilla—a sticky bun in a glass. Rum-soaked figs and dates.

Mouthfeel is chewy and sticky. Nice boozy warmth on the finish.

Overall another great Brew X000 release from Fremont.
