Saw this for $2.99 for a 4-pack of cans (I think they also had $3.99 for a 6-pack of bottles) and instantly picked it up after grabbing their IPA. Found out when I got home that it is under the umbrella of World Brews, so I’m not expecting that much. At least it will be a good value either way.
Poured an auburn, amber, clear color with 2-to-3 fingers of khaki-tan, frothy head. Could make out a few bubble streams coming up from the bottom of the glass. Poor lacing on the sides of the glass. Minimal retention on the top all the way down. (Sight - 3.25)
Initial thought on the smell was an amber more than a porter, but definitely a porter. Got roasted nuts, light toffee, toasted grain, faint chocolate, toasted brown sugar and hints of light coffee. (Smell - 3.75)
Taste followed the nose somewhat, maybe a bit darker overall. Got roasted nuts, toasted grain, toffee, sugary dark caramel, dark fruits, light chocolate, toasted brown sugar and cocoa. (Taste - 3.50)
Medium body. Oily texture. Average carbonation. Rather smooth finish. (Feel - 3.75)
This was a pretty solid porter. Fairly tasty and drinkable. And cheap. (Overall - 3.50)

Pours clear dark brown with amber highlights. Smells a bit metallic, roasty, bitter chocolate, and slightly of prunes. Taste is sweet, roasted, and metallic as well, with a thinner feel than expected. Overall, a decent Porter. Cheers!

My fourth can of this one; can't find any readable canning date, just a long string of numbers on the bottom.
Pours a cola-like dark brown from the can, and once it's in the glass it takes on an even darker brown color, looking pretty close to black when not in direct light, with some dark reddish bits around the edges. Not quite as dark as many others in the porter/stout category but still quite dark. Head is a nice-looking thin cap of beige foam, which quickly shrinks into a very thin and slightly uneven (a few thicker spots here and there) coating over the top with a thicker ring around the edges and a bit of a trail left behind from where the foam used to be. As I drink my way through the glass, a pretty nice network of lacing is left behind.
Smell is a bit different than expected from a porter; it's a sweeter, caramel-y sort of smell rather than being primarily roasty or chocolatey. Maybe a faint bit of roastiness in the back, but the sweet caramel-like smell comes first for sure. I think I might be picking up just a hint of alcohol in there as well, oddly enough. Definitely not bad, but a bit unusual. Interestingly, the roasty aspects come out more in the smell toward the end of the glass; maybe the roastiness becomes more noticeable as this beer warms?
Taste is more porter-y than the smell -- all that sweetness blends in with the roastiness and ends up tasting caramel-y at first blending into a little bit chocolatey and then with roasty almost coffee-like flavor on the end that hangs around for a bit after swallowing. After a while this fades and leaves a sweetish, almost bread-like aftertaste behind in its place. Interestingly, I remember this beer being much sweeter and more caramel-y up front the first couple times I had one, with the roasty flavors coming in more at the end rather than right away like this time. I'm guessing it's my senses rather than the beer itself being inconsistent, though, because the overall smell and taste of the beer is still pretty much like what I remember from the other times I've had it -- just things coming through in different orders.
Feel is a bit thin -- not bad, but definitely thinner than I'd expect given the sweetness, the color, and the 6.5% ABV. At times a little more prickly than expected, too, but the thinness stands out more. And, probably more relevant to a review on here, it's thinner than other porters and stouts I've had in a similar ABV range (New Belgium's Portage or Guinness Extra Stout, for example, felt MUCH more substantial.)
Overall, not a bad little beer, though nothing super amazing either. For what is essentially "store brand" beer it's pretty good actually, and considering that so few porters/stouts end up on Kroger shelves around here it's definitely filling a gap -- I could see myself buying this one again in the future if I wanted a darker beer but wasn't in the mood for Guinness and didn't want to shell out $12 for a six-pack at the smaller local beer store. A little interesting to have a sweeter, more caramel-y take on a porter rather than the roast-focused versions I usually see, though the weirdly thin/light mouthfeel detracts from it a bit -- this would definitely be better if it had a thicker feel to it.

Poured from a 12 OZ can into a pint glass. The appearance is a dark brown with a medium sized off-white head. The aroma is roasted malt, sort of plain. The taste was not good, very metallic. Overall, a below average beer from World Brews.

Mine was brewed for World Brews in Rochester, NY. Pours moderately dark brown with a small head, dissipating rapidly. Lacing as you enjoy the beer. Smell of grain and roasted malt, although the taste is a bit dry.

MEH... picked up by accident, was actually reaching for the DieselPunk IPA... I do enjoy a good porter occasionally ... I would've kept moving down the aisle... light sweet faint chocolate nose muted flavors, almost washed out hoppiness. Not too terribly "malty". I love different styles on occasion but this one I may not go back to...
