Breckenridge Breck LagerBreckenridge Breck Lager
Notes: Breck Lager is a delightfully crisp standard American Lager. Clean and bright with the color of sunflowers, it greets you with a soft, malty, sweet aroma that's grounded by hints of grains and earth. The light maltiness comes through in flavor as well, which gives Breck Lager its satisfying body. Subtle hop character leaves a pleasant, dry finish that invites the next sip.

look: 4.25 | smell: 4 | taste: 4 | feel: 4.25 | overall: 4.25

Appearance: Pours a beautiful, clear, deep golden color with a marshmallow, white, lingering head. SRM of 10. (4.25)

Aroma: Aromas of grass, lemon, and some floral component. Aromas of European hops. Light crackery malts. (4.0)

Flavor: Flavors of lemon, grass, floral. European and German hop flavors. Not bitter. Ends with a slight crackery malt profile. Finishes dry, but not bitter. (4.25)

Feel: Incredibly smooth, yet crisp and well-carbonated. Medium-bodied. Lingering grass on the palate which is nice. (4.25)

Overall: What a great beer. So much better than I was expecting. Nice European flavors. I'd label it like a German pale lager. A little lemon and cereal malt to identify as American. A fantastic, smooth, and flavorful lager. It exceeded my expectations. Exceptional for the style. (Final Rating: 4.09)

I didn't hate this beer but I also didn't care for it. This could be any other pale lager with that classic beer-y taste and feel. Probably good for converting someone from macros to craft beers, but given the choice I would choose most other beers from their lineup. Standard for the style.

Attractive head and hue to this namesake lager. Not a ton of flavor but pleasant with some late spice on top of a basic bread note. Nice overall aftertaste, a little grainy. This is a solid easy drinking lager with a thicker mouthfeel than you usually find in the style.

Pours a clear straw color with a quickly receding head, some lacing. Smells like fresh baguette, fresh cut grass , hay.Taste is actually delicious to my surprise. Crackers, lemon, coriander. Feels incredibly well built. Finishes semi dry. Overall a very solid tasting lager. I did not know this brewery was bought out by InBev. (Anheiser Bush) In the context of a lager why this is not rated higher? Overall I would recommend. It is a low ABV 4.5

Honestly, I've lost the taste for lagers, but this one is really pretty decent...

Golden colored brew with thin head but some nice lacing leads you to find not much to the nose as the smell is very milquetoast. Mouthfeel is crisp but light on carbonation, exactly like I like but still, there was something missing and I'm not quite sure what it is. Anyway, the taste is pretty decent - a touch of sweetness on the back end with a mildly wheaty base. If I'm looking to show someone what a decent lager should be, I'll be handing them one of these.

Has a more substantial look than many lagers, more golden. Aroma is grainy, yet very clean without the off putting or skunky smells of some. Front of taste is similar to most lagers, but he best part is the nutty finish that makes the beer unique. It has a toasted flavor, followed by a nice dry finish. This beer is way better than BMC and is one of the best basic lagers I’ve tasted.

July 2nd, 2015 - It feels like lagers are still losing ground to IPAs, so a good lager is a small blessing in a weary world. And Breckenridge's counts as one of these little gold gems, with it's lightly honeyed aroma with a touch of white grape. There's also a crisp, clean lager taste, and a refreshing quality that perfectly suits the beginning of July. The aftertaste is short too, clearing the way for another crisp sip.

This tastes like a really good macro brewed lager. It seems to improve in taste with every sip. It was part of a variety pack of 15 beers. I would not buy it again on its own...unless marked down considerably.

L: Pours a deep golden yellow color with a creamy white head and nice lacing around the glass, the beer is a little hazier than I like my lagers.

S: Baked bread, sweet apple juice and quite a bit of floral hops, smells quite hoppy for a lager.

T: Baked bread, sweet apple juice and malt sweetness, a strong floral hop that is a bit to bitter and throws of the balance of the beer.

F: Body feels a little heavy for this type of beer but still clean and crisp.

O: While I do enjoy hoppy lagers this one just isn't balanced enough for me and the bitterness is a bit off putting.

Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a deep golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of grains, little else. Taste is lots of malts, grains, some grassy notes, very refreshing. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a beer I will have to the revisit during the summer.

This is exactly what you think it is, a very light lager that you could have several of in an evening. Nothing fancy, nothing exotic, just a simple low ABV pale lager. If you want something more complicated, then look elsewhere, but if you like that sort of thing, you'll like this beer.

From the older can, it pours a clear golden amber with a modest head. Nose is a bit of malt. Taste follows the nose, with a slightly grainy taste as well. Decent!

Poured from the tap into a 20 OZ mug at the Taco Mac in Douglasville, Georgia. The appearance is a clear golden color. The aroma is full of malt with some grainy hops. The taste is mild malt with wheat and grass. An average beer.

Poured into the dreaded shaker pint glass.

Look: Semi-clear light burnt orange colored body under a soapy off-white head that recedes to a thick film. Light, random spots and lines of lacing.

Aroma: There's something toasty and caramelly sweet up front from the malts, leading into a drier, grassy hop finish.

Taste: Wheat and grains up front with lingering caramel notes blend into dried grasses and subtle citrus tang in a hoppy finish.

Mouthfeel: Smooth, medium bodied.

Overall: Had no idea what to expect with this, but it's a sort of generic, vague beer that kind of covers all the bases. Balanced with malts and hops.

This is a good beer, but not a memorable one. It's golden and clear and tastes like any other decent, quality lager out there. Nothing stands out to take the lead, flavor-wise.

A clear, golden hue. Good head and retention. Typical lager smell, clean grain. Flavor is refreshing and filled with light grain and crackers. Hops are very subdued and show up with light earthy notes. A particularly refreshing pale lager that uses quality ingredients and mountain water.

someone finally added this beer to BA! its been a staple at the kalamath location for ages, one of my go to beers here really, and now seemingly coming into some popularity down south at the new facility. its really nice lager, honestly one of the better light beers they do, and one of the few lagers i recall them making. smooth and crisp, much more malt flavor than standard pils grains, and plenty of body on it, a beer drinkers craft lager thats for sure. its got enough bittering hops to more than balance it out, and a fresh cut aroma that i really like. the lagering is complete too, as this is quite dry and snappy quick in the finish. boldly flavored for the style, and carbonated beautifully. its not simple, but its also not trying to be anything more than it is. i like its confidence, and its strident departure from boring throw away yellow beers at craft breweries for those not yet initiated. this is loud beer for how soft it is, if that makes sense in flavor and feel terms, and its a beer i truly believe they should package. i would drink a whole lot more of this than i ever would of avalanche, wish they would stop pushing that one in favor of this...
