This was a Christmas present in 2025, drunk in February 2026.
L Hazy gold in the glass, but the bottle was knocked over before pouring, and I suspect I have quite a bit of sediment in the glass despite a careful pour. The head is bright white, initially voluminous and now thin, and has lasted far longer than any other geuze head I've come across. Lots of tight, swirling bubbles are visible.
S: Very much the traditional geuze nose, with crabapples, acetic acid, barnyard, a touch of nail polish that's thankfully not off-putting, and the promise of a tart, sour sip to follow.
T: An almost exact facsimile of the nose. The finish is dry and crisp, and begging a quick follow-up gulp. There's a saltiness to the aftertaste that I don't recall in other guezes, which adds to the need for another drink. The acidity leaves a little burn in the chest and throat from the halfway mark of the beer. I'm not normally a fan of this style, but I'm enjoying this one.
M: The mouthfeel displays a nice, smooth body, with less carbonation and kick than expected from the visuals.
O: As noted, I don't normally like guezes, and subsequently approached this one with trepidation, but it quickly won me over with its smooth drinkability and sour/salty taste combination.
Cheers!

A 750ml corked and caged bottle, 2015 vintage. Poured into a The Lambic Basket gueuze glass.
Appearance: A slightly hazy golden dark orange colour with a fluffy almost two finger white head that had good retention, eventually settling to a nice cap, while leaving some nice lacing.
Aroma: Tart, funky, musty, barnyard, damp wood, fruity, apricot, apple, lemon.
Taste: Lightly sour, tart, overripe apple, apricot, almost jammy but not really, funky, barnyard, oak, with a super lemon candy finish (sour and a touch sweet).
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.
Overall: Good enjoyable complex aroma and flavours.

somehow never had this one until now, and cool to be drinking one so aged, 2009 vintage here, pretty epic really, i think these guys fly under the radar a little more than they should, even among the lambic nerds, this stuff is really excellent. crazy how clean and clear and bright and bubbly the small bottle pours after all this time, a rich high shine brassy to honey color with a short and short lived puffy white foam on top, some very lightly cloudy beer in the bottom half inch of the bottle is all, no sediment, peppy carbonation the whole drink too, more lively than many, really impressive. the nose is awesome, a little less musty and ancient and green glassy than i expected it to be, curiously subtle in fact, notes of oak, white wine, peaches, and old wheat, really cool and pretty funky, a hint of newspaper, but definitely understated and not sour to me really at all, not even tart, mouthwatering because its appealing but not because its sharp and acidic, woody all the way, some obvious maturity, but really together still, and the flavor follows, wood and stone fruit, sauternes and white port, dried apricot, champagne, old brett, less oxidation than expected, some pleasant honey type sweetness from the grain in the center, soft orangey tang at the end is all, drying and funky, some body still, and lovely carbonation that really makes it sing. super well refined and tidy, warms up very well, and is a really interesting example of this style, well cellared of course, unique and fruity and crazy drinkable without a lot of sourness, could have had several of these solo, an absolute delight, excellent vintage!

Poured from a 750 ml bottle. Not a gusher. Appearance is clear or cloudy (depending on what you do with the yeast sediment), with a billowing head. Moderately high funk factor with leather, oak tannins, sour lemon acidity, yeastiness (like from a good champagne), bread dough, and a touch of apple/pear sweetness. Fizzy mouthfeel, but not thin or light. Overall it's a great gueuze.

The classically light amber body is just barely foggy, and builds a deceptively short, off-white head that loudly and unevenly fizzles out to a thin fuzzy collar vibrating with an actively lifting fizz underneath.
A spritz from the effervescent surface tickles the nose while working fervently to also froth up the body like a more delicately fluffy sort of champagne, delivering to the palate crisply tart pear and plum that rub shoulders with a sort of pleasantly herbal light oak and funk that bloom in the exhale.
It doesn't look that active but it feels so insanely fizzy & lifting, frothing up immensely & transforming the acidity into a fruitiness surprisingly not unlike strawberry pie filling before the semi-dry finish cleanly vanishes. A light touch of cracker emerges as it warms, but actually, overall, this gueuze is a little sweeter than is typical for the style.

Bottle from Etre Gourmet, served at home in a flute glass. Pours a hazy pale colour, enormous head with medium retention. Great lacing.
Aroma is wild, barnyard, bretts, leather, stalk, hints of yoghourt and blue cheese, fruity esters of pears and apples.
Medium body, earthy texture, active carbonation. Funky finish.
Taste follows the aroma.
Top class beer.

Pours a clear, golden amber coloration with a small, fizzy head. Smell is dominated by quite musty, earthy, sweaty funk and some fruity esters of green apple and apricot, as well as some wet grass, oak and doughy malt. Taste is an excellent balance of light doughy, sweet'ish malt, some profound musty, sweaty, earthy funk with hints of blue cheese and mushrooms and strong, fruity and slighty spicy yeast esters of green apple, pear, apricot, gooseberry and clove, with the apricot standing out particularly here, as well as some wet grass and a good oak presence. Finishes with a mild tartness and some funk, oak and fruity apricot and goosberry esters lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.
This is a world-class Geuze that really impresses with its very strong, complex and nuanced funkiness, as well as some vibrant fruity esters and a good oak presence to round things out, while it may be little less tart and acidic than other examples of the style. One of the funkiest "standard" Geuzes I've had, reminding me a lot of 3F Oude Geuze. While it may be just a touch more sweet than I usually prefer, it turns more dry towards the finish, with a very good light/medium acidity and profound funkiness, making for a fantastic overall balance with a rich complexity.
