Nearly clear golden in the tulip glass. Decent head. Nothing jumps out with the flavors. The juniper is quite subtle, probably a good thing. Flavored with Bols Genever, which would explain the juniper taste.

Fairly light mouthfeel with a little viscuous-ness. Distinct bitterness starts early and carries on to the finish. Just a rim of flavor. Tasty lips but a bland tongue. Sounds like a good idea, but flavors are kind of washed out. A faint echo of fruit. Rather buttery.

Yet another unsatisfying oddity fro Stillwater. [On tap at the now defunct Boilermaker in Phila. Notes from 05/23/2012 visit]

Served from tap into a Trappe Door tulip. Poured a hazy pale golden yellow with a two finger white head that subsided to one finger very slowly. Maintained nice lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, banana, clove, spice, wood, fruit, and earth. The flavor was of sweet malt, banana, fruit, clove, spice, and earth. It had a light feel on the palate with high carbonation. Overall this was a pretty decent brew. The flavors and aromas going on in this were quite spot on for the style, but didn't really take it much further than that unfortunately. The banana and clove was a nice touch, but wasn't need in my opinion. This one did finish quite dry compared to some Saisons I've had in the past which was a little off-putting but didn't kill the brew by any means. Worth trying if you get the chance to do so at least.

First had: on tap at TJ's, Paoli, PA

Clear golden pour with a finger's worth of white head that receded to a thin layer, leaving some soapy lacing behind. Herbal aroma, spicy, leafy, malty. Elements of the aroma followed through into the taste, herbs, sweet malts, juniper, pine, nutmeg, a bit of pithy bitterness. I'm not a fan of juniper/gin, and I was good to move on after one glass, but it certainly was interesting. Another show of saison diversity by Stillwater.

Enjoyed on tap at Ebenezer's Pub. Herbs , spices, that as a whole grant it a Juniper element, gin tasting, with tangy fruit and pepper.Bitter finish. Interesting farmhouse and tasty, fairly smooth and drinkable. Good for what it is.Spicy aroma.Better than average farmhouse.

Single finger head with scattered lacing on a murky gold with a brownish tint body. Clove, Belgian yeast, citrus and herbs for the aroma. Flavor also has a strong belgian yeast presence, cola, lemon/ orange citrus, black peppercorn zest and herbal finish. Lighter side of medium body and moderate to high carbonation. A very nice saison. The Belgian character is well represented with complex supporting flavors.

On tap at Max's.

The beer pours a hazy light gold color with good head retention and lacing. The beer is pretty aromatic, as I pick up light clove, sandlewood, a hint of nutmeg and even evergreen. Given the nose, I was expecting something pretty exotic on the palate, but the flavor profile is a complete let down. The beer comes across as a fairly standard wheat beer, but with some additional light spice. There's really not much to it. Mouthfeel is is fairly light and thin, with a fairly clean finish.

Mehhhh.... nothing wrong with this beer, but by the same token, I really can't see any reason to ever order this again.

On-tap at Beachwood Brewing

The beer is a clear golden color with a large white head and vigorous carbonation. The aroma is very spicy with a lot of pepper notes, a touch herbal (juniper?), and there is a decent amount of bread. Hints of yeast and fruit esters as well. The flavor is a touch less impressive than the nose. Nice herbal and spice components, but a bit too fizzy which takes away from the malt character.
