Beautiful coppery dark red brown color with an enthusiastic slosh of foam in the Affligem chalice. Pleasantly sudsy on the tongue. Rich and warm with burnt sugar.

Not too sticky, though the body is substantial, and weirdly enough there is some watery refreshing quality as well. Warming after a couple of sips with alcohol. Some sharp and tangy sensations. Rather sweet with a good dose of that rich smoky malt. Flavors of parsnips, apple cider, and Sugar Daddy candy, but also quite hoppy.

Severe bitter hops that emerge right off the bat are not so friendly. However, with some sipping the warm and smokey taste balances better. From the 22 oz bottle purchased for $10.99 at Bine & Vine in San Diego, more than it's worth if you're keeping score.

On tap at the Noble Ale Works 3rd Anniversary Party held at Noble Ale Works in Anaheim, CA.

Pours a murky dark orange-brown with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Small streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of toasted malt, biscuit, and nutty aromas. Taste is much the same with toast and slight smoke flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of toast bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with a nice toast and subdued smoke presence.

super, ultra cool head with dual colors- white creamy and tan creamy swirled around on top like a well-designed macchiato. awesome!
aroma is MUSTY! much like a very amateurish brew. flavor is thin. mouthfeel is thin. it's alright but just feels it is lacking substance. at 10.6% it covers the alcohol well, but the flavor is still a very thin malt. some bitterness on the finish, with the alcohol slightly beginning to show itself at the end and as the brew warms. not getting the 'fruitcake layers', unless I really try to imagine it, I guess....
overall, it's okay. maybe as a small-batch homebrew, but commercially produced and in a bottle it's just kind of okay. maybe it's the letdown after not being able to find any more of the Citra Showers, but this is not great. good. decent. but not great. and I love this style, too... just cant get past the 'musty' aroma...
