A shade darker than amber, robusto looking. Aroma was bread and bitters.
Taste was more breadiness, bitter, noble hops. Good American version. Hops were pretty much bitterness but the solid yeast profile really helped this one develop a good bitter and malt interplay.

On tap at Noble Ale Works in Anaheim, CA.
Billed at the tap room as The Good Ship ESB with the same ABV, so I will assume it's the same beer.
Pours a hazy dark orange with a foamy khaki head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, grain, caramel, and citrus zest. Taste is much the same with a malty flavor on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that is tasty and easy to drink.

Pours a handsome gold-toned amber in the tall Stella glass. Just a scent of beery malt with some roasted notes. Plenty of head and well carbonated on the tongue.
Fairly light mouthfeel with a watery sort of body. This does have some of the mineral taste, though it seems more of an American-style bitter, rather than an English style. Tastes like the classic Red/Amber with forward hops, a touch of herbal dankness, and long bitter aftertaste. Also plenty of malt, but leafy, herbaceous. Not one I want to taste again. From the 22 oz bottle bought at Best Damn in San Diego.
07/02/2013 Update: The brewer was kind enough to reply that The Good Ship is now the formal name of what used to be called Noble ESB. There is a typo on the new-style label with 5.4%, the beer is 5.8%.

Had on tap at Money Plays in Las Vegas, which automatically makes everyone think 'strip club' but that's another discussion for my place review of Money Plays (coming soon!).
Pours out a sturdy burnt copper brown, I'm not talking brown session ale, but like robust porter brown. Aroma of bitter hops, mild breadiness. The hops didn't have much flavor, they were primarily just lots of bittering hops.
Taste, packs a lot of hops for being an esb, obviously a west coast type of interpretation, and a good one at that. Big carbonation. Thought the caramel and toffee were pretty lage as well. It was an enjoyable beer, slightly adventurous, likely to upset traditionalists. . . works for me.
