The beer that started everything. This is a session beer that you can enjoy several without paying any consequences. Just the right amount of caramel sweetness and light bitterness to make this beer the definition of “drinkability”. Have you had your Beaver today?

Malts: Maris Otter Pale Ale, Belgian Biscuit, Crystal
Hops: Fuggle, Willamette, Goldings

A much delayed review of this fine sessionable ale from Jim at FN. I first had it at Redmond's Malt n Vine and have subsequently had it at FN headquarters.

A low alcohol English bitter is what we have here. Sessionable beyond belief. You could go through a growler (or two) and still walk the next day.

I'd like to see more breweries attempt session beers like this - as long as they have the flavor of this one.

Beautiful honey orange body; fair carbonation; thin, soapy head. Warm, buttery aroma; very malty nose. The taste follows along with the smell; buttery biscuit; toasty; slightly fruity undertone; fine hop bitterness towards the finish. Medium body; a little watery and bubbly; semi-sweet finish

This is a nice beer. It delivers a warm and inviting scents and tastes. Its carbonation and head are a bit weak as well as the body, but it has some nice warmth and malty qualities where it counts.

I had this beer on-tap in a pint glass at Special Brews in Lynnwood, WA.

Appearance: medium orange with a touch of haze and a moderate effervescence. Head did not have much retention but a light attractive lace is present.

Smell: lightly toasty malt aroma with a little hit of biscuity breadiness. Actually pretty nice in this mild context.

Taste: toasty malt with a light touch. Hops are earthy and in just a very good balance. This is a very satisfying mild.

Mouthfeel: light body with a well integrated carbonation and a light but nice creaminess.

Overall: highly drinkable and tasty session mild. Would definitely have again.

Tasted it at the brewery and liked it enough to buy a growler. Don't know why. Is it the growler? Would be the first time. I really don't think so. I must have just been caught up in the moment.
Appearance good enough - off to a good start. Taste overly tart with nothing to redeem it later on.
They put out some very good offerings at Foggy Noggin but this isn't one of them.

Poured a pale orange-gold into a pint glass with a thin film of head. Very mild aroma with just a hint of lemon hops and grass.

Very low carbonation and a light mouthfeel that bordered on watery. Some lemon citrus up front followed by subtle toasted malt and a hint of bitterness on the finish.

I wasn't crazy about the mouthfeel and the flavors didn't bowl me over, but this brew was certainly light and drinkable. Would make a good session beer.

Poured into 10oz glass. Poured a very pleasant copper/bronze/amber color and poured very still, no head thus, no lacing.

The aroma was a very subdued malty grain, with just a bit of well balanced hops at the back. On the tongue, there were the additional tastes of tobacco and leather. At the back there was a certain tang that I couldn't identify.

The body was nicely full while being light and easy. Drinkability was also top-notch. This is truly a session beer, spend an afternoon or evening with this brew and you won't be punished later.

This was my first beer from Washington's newest Nanobrewery and I look forward to trying more of their brews.

Bit O' Beaver is a simple English-style mild ale or ordinary bitter, a style deserving of a tall imperial serving and one that sees only minimal production in the US. The beer is brewed to low carbonation yet still kicks up an eager head atop its orange-amber body. Its simple taste parameters center on good use of Fuggle hops with Marris Otter malts popping up like a slice of whole grain toast brushed with caramel.

For the low-key, no-frills, elbows-up session ale this aspires to be, it's not at all bad. Of course, it's neither an American pale ale nor an ESB. Make the misstep of comparing it to either of these and you'll overlook the merits of a style whose greatest asset is its amicable nuance. All of which is to say, that like all things British, it's rather dull. But it's dull in the good sense, if such a thing can penetrate American sensibilities. I for one, liked it.
