750 ml bottle, poured into a tulip glass. Light clear golden with slight lacing. Aroma is a sweet honey and floral nose, yeasty, with some brandy-like alcohol and robust malts coming through. Clean and dry.
T - sweet rustic malts, florals and cherry fruits, a sweetish and slightly alcoholic profile, clean and crisp dryness, some yeasty esters come in. All around it is quite balanced and nicely drinkable and satisfying, but I feel it falls a bit flat in delivering a really solid experience of the yeast and complexity that could be here. Still nicely balanced and satisfying.
M - big, smooth and sweet, light carbonation.
Overall a satisfying golden ale, alcohol creeps in but is balanced quite nicely. It does feel fairly standard with a sweetish and slightly floral profile. Good but not great.

750 mL bottle picked up at the LCBO; best before Aug 31 2014. I haven't had a lot of American strong ales, but I've had more than a few English-style ones (not to mention plenty of Lake of Bays beers), so I only have a rough idea of what to expect from this one. Served slightly chilled.
Pours a sunny golden-amber colour, bright and clear in hue. Seated atop is one finger of soapy white head, which proceeds to wilt away steadily over the next few minutes until only a wide collar and a delicate pattern of lace remain. The aroma is fairly sweet and fruity, with some toasted, nutty malts, mandarin orange, apricot and caramel notes.
This is a nicely balanced, clean-tasting strong ale. Big malty flavours come at you initially - toasted wheat/nuts, doughy raisin bread and toffee being the most prominent. The tail end of the profile balances things out nicely with some candied orange citrus and leafy, earthy hop notes, the latter of which contribute an unassumingly sturdy bitterness. Off-dry finish, with a touch of raisiny sweetness that vanishes instantly. On the heftier side of medium-bodied, with a smooth, silky mouthfeel and gentle carbonation that barely bothers to agitate the palate. Dangerously drinkable, though this actually tastes fine as it warms so there's really no reason to rush, as with any decent strong ale.
Final Grade: 3.8, a B+. Curtis Joseph was a pretty good goalie, so it isn't terribly surprising that Cujo Imperial Golden Ale is a pretty good beer - although it is definitely not a world-beater. A properly-brewed, highly approachable example of its style that doesn't necessarily require you to be a beer geek to enjoy it. This one is a bit more up my alley than the last entry in the series, but at the current price point it's going to be a one-and-done for me.

750 ml bottle. Served in a pint glass, the beer pours a hazy golden/orange color with about an inch off-white head that sticks around for a long time. There's a decent amount of lacing. The brew smells like bready malt, grassy hops, caramel, and a bit of apricot. I think the taste is similar to the aroma, but with the addition of some nuttiness and light butterscotch. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's smooth and easy to drink with a moderate amount of carbonation. I thought this was a nice, enjoyable Imperial Golden Ale. Definitely worth trying, I liked it. $9.99 a bottle.

Appearance - Pours a golden amber colour with two fingers of foamy white head.
Smell - Bready/biscuity malts, touch of nuttiness, earthy/grassy hops, lemon zest.
Taste - Bready and biscuity malts along with a touch of sweet nut-like flavour. A little bitterness from earthy, grassy hops. Very interesting flavours going on.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Finishes with a little dryness.
Overall - A crisp and refreshing golden ale. Very surprising to detect a bit of nuttiness in the flavour and aroma, but the surprise made for a nice addition.

Appearance: It has a nice hazy golden/orange color to it. It has a nice off-white head that dies down moderately and leaves some lacing.
Smell: The aromas definitely give out hints of toasty/buiscuity malts, some nuttiness, sweet caramel, some earthy hops and faint citrus.
Taste: Like the aromas, it has some toasty/buiscuity malts followed by sweet caramel, a light earthy bitterness and some citrus. (Witch is more prevalent here)
Mouthfeel: It has a medium carbonation with a nice overall balance and feel.
Drinkability: It's a very smooth drinkable beer accompanied by good flavors and aromas.
