Light orange, very clean. One finger of white foam, not bad.
In the smell citrussy and resiìnous notes, come tropical hints, lychee, goose berry, papaya.
Pleasant and fresh taste, too, citrussy and tropical, with a dry finish.
Citrus aftertaste, quite long.
Pleasant APA, great drinkability.

Just an ok tasting beer for an Ontario AIPA; this one is a little light on the hops but has a nice sweet bready malt smoothness which reminds me both of Pompous Ass and SA Boston Lager. Not really my favourite style so it's a one off I got as a Christmas gift but I enjoyed it all the same.

Pours a hazy pale amber with a 2cm rather frothy and diffuse head that quickly dissipates leaving a thinnish ring of head that still leaves moderate lacing. The aroma is pretty light. Grapefruit, bread. In the flavour there is also some pine and a hint of tropical fruit. There is also a slight metalic bite.

Looks good on pour with a big head over top of a clear golden brew. What is immediately striking is the hop aromas of the beer. Grapefruit alongside some tropical fruit li!e pineapple. Interesting. Hops more subdued to taste, grapefruit, the tropics, some pine. Fairly easy drinking, not too hop forward.

The taste is pine, grapefruit, and white bread. There is moderate hop bitterness that's most noticeable at the back of the tongue.
The beer is light to medium bodied and the finish is dry.
Another fine beer by this brewer. They continue to impress.

Nothing wrong with this beer at all, i just prefer a stronger hop flavour. Slight hop aftertaste that is more bitter than fruity, pretty crisp at first.

473 ml can served cold into a pint glass. Purchased from the LCBO for just under $3 CDN. Canned April 6, 2017.
Appearance - clear and rich golden color with some amber hues. A decent finger and change of medium lasting white head and spotty lacing.
Smell - earthy, with plenty of leafy hops, dare I say elements of Mary Jane? Some subtle citrus mixed in for good measure. Fairly aromatic for an APA.
Taste - clean and grainy, earthy and leafy hops flavors abound. Subtle bit of grapefruit for good measure.
Mouthfeel - good carbonation and light body with a fairly dry finish.
Overall - a pretty good APA. Worth a try and even better if you enjoy the leafy hops.

473 mL can from the LCBO; dated Apr 4 2017 and served well chilled. Reviewed on my phone.
Pours a relatively clear golden-yellow colour - the 'partial filtration' mentioned on the back label allows for some slight sediment-derived haze. An inch of foamy white head fades away over the next several minutes, producing a messy swath of lace and a modest-sized collar. Juicy pink grapefruit and lemon zest on the nose, also including a few minor notes of pine resin, passion fruit and fuzzy peach. Quite a fruity, enticing aroma, with suggestions of herbal, floral hops.
Pretty good, actually. Some bready, doughy malts and honeyed sweetness underlie a sturdy, highly citric hop kick. I'm getting a lot of pink grapefruit, accompanied by notes of lemon and under-ripened peach. The pithy hop bitterness reaches a crescendo towards the finish, leading to a resiny, leafy, slightly floral denouement. Lemony aftertaste that lasts a few seconds after each sip. Light in body, with assertive, prickly carbonation that feels crisp. Highly refreshing and quite sessionable.
Final Grade: 3.88, a respectable B+. Broken Axe APA doesn't do anything especially new or creative, but if you're looking for something light and very grapefruit-focused, it should be able to get the job done. Honestly one of the better Lake of Bays products I've tried in recent memory; it's drinking nicely fresh, if I do say so myself, and I expect I'll probably get a few more cans over the course of this summer.
