Pours a goldie orange colour with a 1cm head atop. Smell is all hops. Taste is like a regular IPA. Not much peach and not much milkshake. I’m not a fan of milkshake IPAs so that’s fine with me. But others may rank lower. There are a lot better ( ? ) milkshake IPAs available to those who enjoy them.

Got this one from the LCBO this past summer

From a 473ml can into a pint glass
IBU: 55
Hops: Magnum, Mosaic and El Dorado
Peach Milkshake IPA with lactose sugar

APPEARANCE: Pours a small, medium looking, creamy white head with good retention. Slightly hazy gamboge orange with lots of carbonation evident. Head fades to a good wisp and clings to the glass. A full cap remains until the end leaving lots of good lacing down the glass as it empties. Lots of carbonation in this one and it hangs around the whole time.

SMELL: Definite peaches here. Overly ripe peaches all over the place here. Tropical notes of mango and pineapple too. Medium strength.

TASTE: Peaches and tropical notes up front. Hints of mango, pineapple, some caramel notes and more peaches at the swallow. Medium finish of caramel, tropical fruits, peaches and some piney bitterness lingers on the palate. Hints of tropical fruits but this is mostly peaches and bitterness.

PALATE: Medium body and medium carbonation. Creamy enough on the palate, goes down fine and finishes a bit dry. Some bitterness lingers.

OVERALL: Not bad at all. The peaches are there and there’s a good dose of piney bitterness after the swallow, but the tropical fruit milkshake character is definitely left wanting. Re-brand this as a peach IPA and it’d make a lot more sense.

Peach Paradise - Peach Milkshake IPA. By Lake of Bays Brewing Company. 5.2% alc.

Pours as a slightly hazy golden colour with a white head that dissipates fairly quick.

The smell is faint peach and a hint of grapefruit.

Taste is peach and grapefruit and both are nicely balanced.

Mouthfeel is prickly medium and the beer itself is light to medium bodied.

Finish is peachy and a bit dry.

For a summertime beverage this is very enjoyable. The ABV is a tad low for an IPA but I suspect that is because this is billed as a summer season Beer.

Grade: A.

473 ml can served cold into a pint glass. LCBO purchase for around $3.40 CDN. Looks like it was canned on April 9, 2019.

Appearance - Well that's unexpected. Clearest milkshake I've ever seen. Rich dark gold color with orange hues. Quite clear, just a slight bit of haze. A finger of frothy and then rocky white head sits on top. Retention is above average.

Smell - Light peach aromas, a little bit of a creamy, milky aroma too. It does smell like how I would expect a watered down peach milkshake to smell. Not much beyond that.

Taste - Some underripe peach initially, finishes quite bitter. Watery as well. Bitter for the sake of being bitter at the end. Some sweetness on the first half of the sip, none afterwards.

Mouthfeel - Some heft, medium bodied, but drinks a little thicker.Finish is quite dry.

Overall - Not a big fan. Not enough peach with sweetness, not enough milkshake like quality, not enough IPA qualities, just bitter for the sake of being bitter. That said, it's not a bad beer, but given the rising quality of local beers especially in the past few years, this just comes up short for me. Could be appealing for some.

473 mL can from the LCBO; dated Apr 9 2019 (I think - the month is kinda smudged) and served barely chilled. Reviewed from notes.

Pours bright golden-yellow with a light fogginess to the body; seated atop is one finger of soapy white foam which dissipates within a couple minutes' time. A messy band of attractive lace is left in its wake, along with a thin, bubbly collar and a few filmy patches on the surface; looks fine to me, but the aroma is lacking at best. It's meekly fruity, with hints of orange, pear and stone fruit, and peach candy. Don't get me wrong, it's good that it doesn't smell 'fake'... but it's honestly not very aromatic at all, which is not ideal for any IPA, let alone a peach milkshake one.

It tastes ok; I'm getting grainy pale malts, oatmeal and a very light milk sugar sweetness at the forefront, with the peach flavour mingling about the taste buds throughout the sip. Hop flavours of citrus, tropical fruit (melon?) and pine resin round out the back end, with a low level peach flavour lingering briefly into the aftertaste. Medium-bodied, with low carbonation that limply agitates the palate; feels smooth and slightly slick on the tongue. Easy enough to drink, but not particularly enjoyable IMO.

Final Grade: 3.44, a serviceable B-. I didn't mind Peach Paradise all that much, but as far as milkshake IPAs go it comes off as a pretty half-hearted attempt. Where's the juicy, authentic peach fruit flavour? Where's the milkshake sweetness? And for that matter, where's all the hazy turbidity that you'd expect from this style? I can practically read a newspaper through a glass of this beer. It's still worth trying once so that you can judge for yourself, but there's no doubt that it's a step or two behind the best Ontario-made examples of this fad-like sub-style of IPA.
