473 mL can included in their Toasty Toes gift pack; packaged Sep 30 2021 and served slightly chilled.
Pours a foggy golden-orange colour, sporting less than a finger of lumpy, soapy white head that sizzles away within ninety seconds or so. A frothy collar of suds is left in its wake, with a few strands of lacing deposited as the level drops. Not especially aromatic from the glass - a bit wheaty, with hints of muddled citrus and berries, while sniffing from the can offers slightly more direct whiffs of kiwi and raspberry.
Drinks like one of those fruity tea blends, built atop your standard American wheat ale. Wheaty, bready pale malts and a touch of doughy sweetness are soon joined with hints of raspberry and kiwi, followed by a wheaty, mildly lemony finish. The watermelon is around, but as a subtle flavour to begin with it doesn't exactly pop... I found it most noticeable in the aftertaste, which has a hint of melon rind. Light in body, with assertive carbonation and a somewhat crisp mouthfeel; very easy to toss back. I don't love this, but I don't hate it either - it would probably work just fine as a lawnmower beer.
Final Grade: 3.65, a serviceable B grade. Mystery Beer One didn't do much for me - it's mostly just fruity, with some hoppy characteristics on the back end. There's an outside chance that it's a very weak fruited kettle sour, but I'd place my money on fruity wheat beer - it's inoffensive, a little bland, but I suppose you don't see all that many watermelon and/or kiwi beers in this region, which makes it a bit of a novelty. I gulped it back without a fuss, but it's not really my thing - I doubt I'll be voting for this, unless Two turns out to be a flop.
