Formerly Alla Caccia
Italian Style Pilsner
Brewed with Pilsen malts and Perle hops, finished with a Hallertau Blanc and Huell Melon dry-hop - this Italian Pilsner is easy-drinking, reminiscent of a traditional German Pils but with notes of pear, sweet white bread, and grass lent by the dry-hop.

Pours a pale color - so much so it gives the impression of being white - with a decent head receding to a thin ring. Good lacing. Elevated carbonation and mild hops. Bitterness low. Sweet aroma marked by grains and citrus fruit. Light tasting - grapefruit and malt overtones. Somewhat thin on the flavour end and finish but a good pilsner.

473 ml can served cold into a pint glass. LCBO purchase for around $3,25 CDN. Canned August 17, 2022.
Appearance - Reasonably hazy, light straw beer with two plus fingers of brilliant white head. Very good staying power.
Smell - Light and grainy, some light bread malts and hints of grass, hay and lemon.
Taste - Light and grainy, middling hop bitterness. Not as bready or as crackery as many a pilsner. LAos lacking the sharp clear hop burst of "Italian pilsners". Slightly bitter and almost milky aftertaste.
Mouthfeel - Medium-light bodied with good carbonation. Fairly dry, but nothing extraordinary.
Overall - Seems to lack the great clarity, the very bright hop burst and super dry finish of the other local Italian pilsners. Not a bad beer, but fits in more mid-lower pack than the rest. Decent enough, but other local breweries are doing this just as well if not better.

473 mL can from the LCBO; I can't find a packaging date. Served slightly chilled. Also known as "On the Hunt" on their website - not sure if that's outdated marketing copy, or if they've already changed this beer's name.
Pours a hazy, translucent lemon drop yellow, capped with an inch of bubbly, soapy white head that lasts for the better part of five minutes, scattering a haphazard coat of lace about in the process. Afterwards, a wide collar of froth surrounds a patchy, filmy cap - looks pretty good so far. Lemon zest and juice on the nose, with added hints of crackery pale malts and grassy, spicy, somewhat herbal hops.
It tastes of crackery malts and light graininess, with lemony citrus coming through courtesy of the German-USA hybrid dry hops. I'm also getting hints of white grapefruit and honeydew, but they're really subtle; finishes with grassy, lightly spicy noble hops and lemon zest dissipating into the aftertaste, which is dry, inviting subsequent sips. Light in body, with assertive carbonation that feels prickly on the tongue, lending a firm bite to this crisp yet watery lager. At least it's refreshing and thirst-quenching.
Final Grade: 3.49, a B-. Alla Caccia is a serviceable light lager, but I don't think it holds up well as a pils. It's more like one of those India pale session lagers, if you're looking for something comparable - watery, thin and not very satisfying, with some fruity American hops on top of a relatively neutral malt bill. Not necessarily a bad beer, and the dry hop flavours are nice enough... but this is just too light and thin on malt flavours to seal the deal for me. Not significantly better than their old Switchback Pils, but still worth a try I guess.

Pours a pale straw colour with a thick fluffy head. A bit of a sour bitter smell. Corny and grainy on the taste, a bit metallic. Very carbonated with a dry mouthfeel
