Notes: Civil Disobedience Blend 33 has undoubtedly taken its leisurely path. In February of 2017, the oldest component of this blend began as Sankt Hans aging in wine barrels. Joining a portion of that beer was a panoply of intriguing threads: Florence that began its wine barrel aging in September of 2017; single wine barrels of Vera Mae, Nordic Saison, and Brother Soigné, all from autumn of 2017; and wine barrels of Anna and Arthur from early winter 2017. Each constituent was chosen to complement and strengthen the final vision.

Blended and bottled in June of 2018, the maturation of this blend has required nearly four years in the bottle, and we anticipate that it will continue to evolve and reach its peak in 3 to 4 years while presenting exceptionally well for the next 7 to 8 years. Like the blends numbered 30 and 31 before it, this recalls Civil Disobedience 10, yet more contemplative and complex.

This one pours a clear pale yellow color, with a small head, and not much lacing.

This smells like minerally funk, orange peel, lemony acidity, sourdough bread, funky bitterness, honey and white wine.

This is really dry, complex and tasty, with lots of wine barrel, some doughy and funky sweetness, and dry lemon and orange peel. There’s a sort of mineral-ish funk to it, with some light honey-like notes.

This is light bodied, and pretty softly carbonated, almost like a really old lambic in feel. It’s quite drinkable and not too sour.

This is easily one of the better blends in this series in a bit. It’s not quite to the mountaintop that was CD 23, but it’s very good even without comparing it to anything else.

750 mL bottle. Golden body, no head. White wine, mineral notes, oak, light doughiness. Tastes of strong minerality also. Woody, grainy, white wine, light citrus, funky yeast finish. A little flat and not quite effervescent. Good, if not quite stellar.
