This, the thirty-fifth entry in our blended barrel-aged Farmstead® ale collection spans more than five years and is comprised of wine barrel-aged Anna and Arthur from late summer 2017 that rested in barrels whose lineage includes Elaborative Five, Flora, Ann, and Art. This presentation has undertaken an unhurried journey from brew day to assembly to glass, traversing more than four years of conditioning in the bottle prior to release. Given the fascinating progression of the blend over the course of these four years in bottle—and its current Anna-forward presentation—we anticipate that this blend has a long road of positive expression for the next 5 (or more) years. We have witnessed this beer’s mysterious evolution, nonplussed by the significant length of time required for its transition from our optimistically projected blend to a period of ambiguity. A discourse between its components ensued in bottle, with neither taking a leading role for more than two years. Now, at four years, its current manifestation exhibits honeyed aromatics, vibrant mid-palate, and a balance of integrated acidity, texture, and weight.
We can now present to you another blended experience of time, place, and patience.

#93 of different Hill Farmstead beers that I have sampled; again getting even close to #100.
750ml bottle poured into Hill Farmstead white logo Durobar Charente.
Bottled on the date of 7/11/2018.
Appearance: Golden pale yellow body with bone white head that gets less than 1 finger tall. Head fizzes away aggressively. No lacing.
Smell: Lemon and green apple. Dusty basement funk.
Taste: Lemon and green apple tartness. Dusty basement funk. Tasting some salinity and general sweetness as well. Vinegar notes as well.
Mouthfeel: Incredibly clean to the point that there is virtually no finishing flavor or lingering flavors. Not sure that I have ever experienced this in a barrel aged Saison. Acidity here is pretty light which makes it very easy to drink.
Overall: Always enjoying the chance to open Hill Farmstead.

This one pours a slightly hazy golden yellow color, with a small head, and a little bit of lacing.
This smells like sweet and floral honey, lemony funk, a touch of grassiness and spicy herbal notes, strawberry, stone fruit, and hay.
This is definitely Anna-forward, and nearly Ann-like, with some funky, sweet, and earthy honey notes, some damp hay and lemony funk, a nice berry and citrus fruitiness.
This is light bodied, with a manageable acidity, and a nice drinkability.
This is definitely in the upper echelon for this series.

This was so well done. Pristine golden color and poured delicately down the center of the glass to let the head form and dissipate gently. The wine barrel presence of Ann and Art, the honey tones of Ann, thevibrance of Art, and a dusty funk that I didn’t expect but really really like, come together so well. Something softer about this blend that stands out from its component beers is really unique and enjoyable.
