Our Civil Disobedience series is an act of optimism and hopeful curation. As we follow each barrel—gauging various trajectories and arcs—patterns emerge. Some barrels become their namesake’s peak expression; others terminate in perceptible failure, destined for reintegration into our fields—perhaps becoming beer again far down the water table chain. A third barrel category seeks accompaniment within a sympathetic chorus and often—upon curated blending with like-directed selections—undertakes a secondary journey of integration and co-development.
This thirty-eighth entry in our blended barrel-aged Farmstead® ale collection spans more than five years and is comprised of wine barrel-aged Anna and Arthur from late summer 2018, Samuel from winter of 2019, and Sankt Hans from autumn of 2019. This presentation has undertaken an unhurried journey from brew day to assembly to glass, spending more than three years of conditioning in the bottle prior to release. We anticipate that this blend has a long road of positive expression for the next 5 (or more) years.

Sweet pale malts, wildflower honey, faint hoppiness, moderate acidity, not too much funk. Some white oak. I feel like the Sankt Hans comes through here quite a bit

Got in a trade. Bottled 01/08/21 and consumed 04/09/25. Let out at RT for ~30 mins before pouring into a Spiegelau wheat beer glass

A&S: Tangerine orange transparent beer, second pour causes a little more darkening and cause the beer to be translucent. The white fuzzy head retains at a moderate level rate. Aroma is tart and sour. Contains lemongrass, lime zest, sour green apples, white wine, and oak.

T&M: Similar to aroma, but fruity with tangerines and tart cherries in the profile. The finish is dry. Pretty drinkable, but a little less so than the Nordic Saison due to its slightly higher acidic profile.

Overall: I had this and the Nordic saison from Hill Farmstead on back-to-back days. Both are excellent and similar in some ways to each other, but this was my preferred choice.

This one pours a golden orange-ish color, with a small head, and a bit of lacing.

This smells like pear, white wine, oak, and lemon peel.

I have enjoyed basically every entry in this series, and that’s not changing here. This is so vibrantly funky and citrusy, with lemon candy, white wine, oak, floral funk, and lemongrass.

This is lighter bodied, pleasantly tart but not overly sour, with a bright and drinkable feel to it.

Every entry in this series is a must buy for me, this one included.

Golden appearance, foamy white head, ok retention. Bright grassy notes, citrus, fruity, low funk, low acidity. Moderate to light body and carbonation.
