We filled a wine barrel and an Aromatic/Gentian Bitters barrel with Self-Reliance: Citra, each of which rested for three months with our resident microflora. We blended the two components and added an elemental and novel blend of bee pollen, quince, pine pollen, and lemon myrtle

This one pours a slightly hazy golden orange color, with a small head, and not much lacing.
This smells quite herbal, with rose, vanilla, and Earl Grey tea, with wonderfully juicy hop notes of tangerine, grapefruit, and melon.
This could have been extremely weird, as the ingredients are basically stuff you’d find in a bag of leaves on the side of the road. But it all works extremely well. The base Self Reliance is always going to make for a promising beer here, as the soft juicy hop notes, with light piney bitterness work really well with the more off-the-wall notes. Those include fermented tea, rose water, lemongrass, honey, and a farmer’s field in rain.
This is light bodied, crisp, clean, and super drinkable. It’s tart, but not sour.
This series is very much all over the place, with huge hits and some misses – this is closer to a huge hit.
