For the first time, we offer the Port barrel-aged version of Everett (1908-1939), Edward's brother as well as the name of our robust porter. For these barrel-aged editions, we brew a richer, more complex version of Everett, one that will sympathize whichever barrel type we choose. This particular one was conditioned in freshly emptied port barrels, resting contentedly for 20 months, taking on the unique characteristics that tine and fortified wine provide.

This one pours a very dark black color, with a small head, and not much lacing.
There’s lots of tobacco and roast on the nose here, with licorice, herbal bitterness, raisin, plum, and dark chocolate.
I often get lots of tobacco and herbal licorice notes on port barrel stuff – and that’s definitely the case here. It’s lighter on dark fruit – like raisin and plum – they’re still there but mild. There’s some smoky tobacco, leafy and herbal bitterness, and lots of dark roasted malt. There’s the obvious chocolate, too, but this must have been a particularly roasty base batch of Everett.
This is medium bodied, not quite as thick as regular Barrel Aged Everett. There’s very little booziness here.
This isn’t quite the legendary classic that BA Everett is, but it’s a really nice alternative.

Hands down the best expression of Everett so far and it's by a long shot.
