Thirst-quenching, crisp & snappy are all adjectives that come to mind when drinking this fresh, light Mexican-style lager. We use Vienna malt and corn to give the malt profile just enough oomph to separate this beer from its mass produced imported and domestic counterparts. Authentic lager yeast and cold fermentation ensure it ends up a dry, even-keeled session beer. A beer for all reasons.

From a can. Clear golden color with white head. Corn and floral hop aroma. Light body with good carbonation. Tastes of cracker malt with corn and lemon. Well executed

Great refreshing taste, especially for a summer lager. Brewed by the Mother Earth Brew Co. both in Vista, CA and Nampa, ID, so it's a local beer. For the price (~$8.00 per 6-pack), you can't go wrong. Goes great with Mexican food and Asian food.

I am trying this beer off the tapper at the Boise, Idaho location as part of a four sample flight. It poured a clear golden with white head which left a spotty lace. The beer was nicely balanced and easy to drink. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it is a great beer.

12oz can (dated 6/9/21) poured into 14oz teku. Poured a lightly hazy medium gold color with well over an inch of white head that had good retention and light lacing.

The aroma and taste were similar; lightly sweet with soft, floral hops. The body was a bit fuller than typical, smooth, and had a sweet finish. Drinkability was OK, no issues, but I wasn't left craving another.

Overall, a nice, easy drinking beer, but not a particularly notable one. Worth grabbing for the tick.

A modelo clone but with more subtle features, drink it with a lime on a hot day and its not bad.

A perfectly good Trader Joe’s Mexican lager/ Modelo clone. I will leave the detailed reviews to others. I will say I don’t think it’s necessary to pay more for the craft brewer Mexi-lagers when this will do just fine. This would probably do just fine for a Michelada.

Glass: Clear 16-oz. Bruges beer glass
Price: $1.25
From: Trader Joe’s in La Mesa, Calif.

Misc.: Canned on April 16, 2020

Had Rachel pick this for me on a recent Coronvirus trip to Trader Joe’s. Didn’t have the best reviews on Untappd (3.58), but it’s a lager and most lagers are underrated on Untappd. Mother Earth’s website described it as, “Thirst-quenching, crisp & snappy are all adjectives that come to mind when drinking this fresh, light Mexican-style lager. We use Vienna malt and corn to give the malt profile just enough oomph to separate this beer from its mass produced imported and domestic counterparts. Authentic lager yeast and cold fermentation ensure it ends up a dry, even-keeled session beer. A beer for all reasons.”

Poured a golden clear color with 2-to-3 fingers of frothy white head. Lots of bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass at different speeds. Excellent foamy lacing. Excellent retention. (Sight - 4.50)

Pleasantly pleased with the smell. In order got sourdough bread, biscuit, lemon, citrus zest, corn, herbal and hints of honey. Surprisingly, not as good from the can. More corn and bready malts from the can. (Smell - 4.00)

Tasted almost as good as the nose. Might have poured it a tad too warm. In order got biscuit, white bread, white cracker, hints of peppery spice, Noble hops (Saaz?), lemon, citrus zest, corn and still hints of honey. (Taste - 3.75)

Medium body. Thin texture. Average carbonation. Abrupt, dry finish. (Feel - 4.25)

Just an outstanding American Light Lager overall. Hey Beer Advocate, can we get Mexican Lager for a beer style already? (Overall - 4.00)

Draft at Double Tap. Pale golden, clear, skin of head. Bready, grainy aroma. Taste is more of the bready malts, smooth, flavorful. A bit of dry bitterness at the finish.

a brisk and clean mexican lager perfect for warm weather crushing. still no category for the style here on BA, but this is fully a mexican lager, done with that yeast i love so much, some light fruity notes to it, citrus and also a noble hop bitterness as well, good balance, quite flavorful really for how light it is, very professionally done, the lagering is awesome and the beer is really snappy and refreshing overall, i hope they package this, it will be an ideal river beer this summer. a fresh herbal aroma, clean biscuit and dry cracker from the malt, a touch of corn character in the center maybe if i look for it, but its not sweet, and to me seems more mineral forward and earthy than anything else. the yeast is right, the proportions are good, and the whole thing feels fresh and springy. i think this a great addition to their lineup, and a beer i will likely drink more than my share of when it turns to summer. its been awhile since i have had or seen anything new from these guys, this is very solid, a great example of the style and a total ripper.
