On tap at ME Nampa. Straw colored pour, hazy, light foamy head. Aroma is citrusy, light tartness, grapefruit peel. Taste is more citric sting, pineapple, grapefruit, tangerine. Juicy. Overall very smooth. Nice feel.

Type: 16-oz. can
Reviewed as: New England IPA
Glass: Pure Project 16-oz. brandy snifter glass
Price: $14.99 for a 4-pack
From: 5 Star Market & Liquor in La Mesa, Calif.
Purchased: Dec. 10, 2020
Consumed: Dec. 10, 2020
Misc.: Canned on Nov. 13, 2020 at 9:54 p.m. MT
Went to my next-door liquor store to pick up something new. Was looking for a new 4-pack IPA that I could review one tonight and take the rest with me on a work trip. Saw this for the first time in stores and had seen good things about it from friends on Untappd, so went with it for the $14.99 price tag and more importantly the Nov. 13, 2020 canned on date. This place has some old ones, but less than a month was certainly in range. The online description of this one read, “High protein malts create a soft mouthfeel and characteristic haze which is accentuated by the omission of any colored or caramel malts to ensure it remains hop-focused. Oats and German Pale Wheat Malt add a light cracker-like flavor. The hop profile remains fruity with light citrus and tropical notes reminiscent of mixed berries, pineapple, and orange zest. Calcium chloride is added to accentuate palate fullness.” Hops mentioned on can read Mosaic, El Dorado, Amarillo and Belma. Very familiar with the first three hops, but vaguely remember having Belma once. After a quick lookup of the profile, I saw orange, melon, strawberry, pineapple with a hint of grapefruit. Damn that sounded good.
Poured a medium pale murky color with 2-to-3 fingers of frothy off-white head. Could see some light bubbles coming up along the sides of the glass. Almost perfect spiderweb foamy lacing. World-class retention. (Sight - 4.50)
Smelled really good right from the beginning. Got a nice mix of El Dorado and Mosaic up front, but still some notes of Amarillo and Belma in the background. Specifically melon, pear, pineapple, mango, mixed berry, floral, orange, tangerine rind, red grapefruit, rose blossom, stone fruit and sugary milk. Not quite as good out of the can, but still solid. (Smell - 4.00)
Taste wasn’t as good as the nose (which I may have underrated slightly). More Amarillo than Mosaic in the taste. In order El Dorado, Amarillo, melon, juicy pear, pineapple, mango, orange, tangerine rind, red grapefruit, mixed berry, Mosaic, rose blossom, stone fruit, sugary milk and caramel malt. (Taste - 4.00)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Abrupt, bitter finish. (Feel - 4.00)
This was outstanding overall. I may have underrated this a tad (the smell was so close to a 4.25 to me), but I’m happy with where this came out. (Overall - 4.00)

Poured from a 16 ounce can into an IPA glass.
Look- Sudsy white head, light straw, moderately hazy, below average head retention and lacing.
Smell- Tangerine, pineapple.
Taste- Tangerine, pithy, pineapple, tart finish.
Feel- Creamy, between thin and medium body, average carbonation, tart/astringent finish, medium bitterness.
Overall- With the four hop varieties found in this beer I expected a more diverse favor profile.

Pretty much delivers what it promises, a hazy IPA. Its got citrus and sweetness. Low on the hop flavor. Low on carbonation. Its better than many hazies but doesn't do much to set itself apart from the masses. It was enjoyable but not enough to tempt me to buy another pack.

16oz can from Trader Joes
L
Cloudy and maybe a bit "partical-y". Pretty bright straw color.
S
Some complex creamy undertones. Overall pretty subdued though.
T
Doesn't pop you in the taste buds right away, but there is a rich flavor that lingers.
F
Kind of creamy.

16oz canned on 12/11 poured into a pint nonic.
A: Pale straw pour with lighter haziness and a fluffy bright white head that laces excellently.
S: Melon and bright tropical fruit character, pineapple, stone fruit. Wheaty citrus and a malt sweetness emerge as it warms, maybe vanilla as well.
T: Floral tropical fruit and pale malty grains, sweetness; mild bitterness, fairly juicy.
MF: Fluffy with that wheat characteristic. Still light.
O: Decent hazy IPA.

Meager head production; quickly faded. Body is hazy as advertised, but it's more cloudy in character, like a Hefe or even a Wit.
Bright and hoppy nose - not too hoppy - a blend of juices (tropical and citrus) and lighter herbs. Not particularly dank, especially considering the varietals used. A touch grainy (pale malt). A bit of tangerine and papaya; a touch of cream.
More dank on the palate, but still moderate at most. Citrus peel, melon, mango. Doesn't really pop with juicy hop tones. Pale and grainy, with more malt expression than expected: cracker, white bread, grains. Although it's not sweet and juicy, bitterness is still fairly low. Grows on you with each sip. Papaya, very minor notes of tangerine.
Lively but smooth. I wouldn't go pillowy soft or creamy, but it is very smooth, with a decent bite. No significant astringency.
This is a very clean, well balanced IPA, but it's not as juicy as I was expecting; nothing really stands out or demands your attention. It's very good, and it would be an excellent offering on tap locally, but I wouldn't seek it out.

Damn solid hazy.
Smells of creamy citrus with nuanced undertones of apple and cantaloupe.
Bright zesty citrus: lemon blossom, tangerine zest, orange. But also a ripe honeydew going toward pineapple and creamy sweetness. I'm picking up a tinge of onion.
Mouthfeel is fluffy and creamy. Damn near perfect.

a really tasty new hazy here, drinkable and bright, lighter than many, with a big dry hop bouquet that really pops out as tropical and fresh. i believe there is lactose in this, which i dont love, not sure why everyone feels the need to use it in their hazy beers, but i like everything else about this, and even the sweetness it brings is minor here. yellow in color, soft looking, with a nice head from the tap and some light passing through. it smells and tastes to me like el dorado hops, i get that ripe melon aspect i love in this varietal, also some of the pineapple vibe i often pick up in mosaic, not sure what else is in the mix, but they have layered them in well, i can detect hints of sweet lemon, cut flowers, and white grape, along with some orange zestiness as well, really a lovely hop profile overall, no real bitterness here either. lighter body with just a little dry barley taste coming through the hops, balanced enough, and very tidy on the ferment, which i am thankful for, off dry with the lactose in here, but nothing from the yeast at all. good carbonation adds to the drinkability, as does the obvious freshness. this is solid overall, nice to have some new stuff from these guys yesterday!

16 oz can purchased for $3.25 from room temp shelf at Trader Joes on Nov 27. Canned on Nov 11, 2020. Consumed on Dec 2, 2020, Can states that this is one of their limited edition "Project X" beers which mates up a one-off beer with some artsy labeling. Mosaic/El Dorado/Amarillo/Belma hops. Nothing noteworthy in the appearance at all. Typical hazy (borderline opaque) with dark yellow/light orange color. No head except for the slightest film covering the liquid. No lacing. Very little smell...perhaps some orange/pineapple. nearly equally subtle flavor. Not bad balance between malt and hops but just nothing distinctive about it. Mouthfeel is almost flat, like a barely carbonated cask version. With all the excellent hazy IPAs in the same price range I see no reason o repeat this one.
