Canned on 1/17/20
Pours a translucent dingy honey-burnt orange body topped with a fluffy, near creamy two fingers of off-white head; solid retention, thin, creamy cap/collar and a lightly spread smattering of tight lacing.
Aroma is direct with waves of mango, mango puree, and booze dominating; light grapefruit and bright orange come through in the backdrop, though this remains largely one-dimensional in its fruit-forward nature.
Taste brings an expected hit of mango intertwined with a stiff, burly booze some fresh orange zest in between; with the alcohol lingering beyond into a muddled, semi-bitter tropical rind finish showing flashes of grapefruit pith.
Mouthfeel has a medium body lifted by a soft, fluffy moderate-high carbonation with distinct undertones of booze; slick and oily from the mid-palate onward, with a bitter bite in the finish again cut by touches of booze.
Straight to the point in the spirit of a fruited IPA, but this one definitely needs to reign itself in, as the alcohol presence trends toward overwhelming throughout and leaves the overall product unsteady.
