Polotmavy is loosely translated as "half-dark" or amber as we know it, and is yet another style of Czech lager rarely found in the US. A distant cousin to the Vienna lager, it has a unique malt flavor without a sweet cloying finish. A delicate toasted malt aroma with a hint of Czech Saaz hop character rounds this beer out. It's a subtle beer, but a rewarding one.

Full dimpled mug pour at their Brighton location. A truly great beer overall but a world class CAL. Super smooth, malt bill is fresh and earthy with a bit of char and hint of smoke, and the finish is superb. As stated, it doesn’t have the sometimes overbearing sweetness of a Vienna Lager. Light and easy drinking, this is certainly a beer you want available at all times in your fridge.

This rating is for the new version that is now the house Polotmavy (11 plato, aka Jedenatcka). I may have rated it originally after having Golden Tiger. This is neck and neck for my favorite beer at Notch.
Pours an amber with golden hues when raised to the light, not too light like a PNW malleable metal feline lager collab with hype bottom fermentation breweries. This is toasty with a hint of spice. It's like a holiday cookie with a hint of cinnamon or something. It's excellent and worthy of celebrating maybe the best brewery in Massachusetts.

Like most everything I've tried from Notch's taproom, I really enjoyed this beer. It's full of flavor, light on the palate and totally unique. This is coming from a guy who hasn't sipped any lagers from the European-motherland so I'm speaking from the perspective of comparing it what's on shelves and on tap in the states. Enjoyed from a crowler within a week.
Pours a caramel/amber body with a creamy white head that fades after a couple minutes. Nice looking streaks of lacing left behind.
Aroma is a little on the lighter side (I enjoy these beers cold) but there's a noticeable malt, bread complemented by slightly floral and bitter hops. Mellow aroma.
Taste is substantial - great balance of toasted malt, roasted grains, caramel-sweetness, floral and bitter hops. Nice and malty but not cloying or, for lack of a better term, boring. Straight up delicious.
Super crisp and light on the palate. Eminently drinkable. Prost!

On tap at Notch in Salem, MA.
This one pours a moderately toasted looking amber color, with a small foamy head, and lots of lacing.
This smells like spicy hops, toasted malt, light fruit and breadiness.
This is also killer. There’s toasty and slightly toffee forward malt, and very spicy hop bitterness. It’s super balanced and very drinkable.
There’s a nice crispness here, with a high level of drinkability and a surprising creaminess.
Notch is killing this lager game.
