Son of a Baptist is an 8% ABV imperial stout. It is not barrel aged like its father, Big Bad Baptist; instead its flavor profile was designed to highlight the complex and often unique flavors of small batch coffees. Instead of sourcing a coffee that would play well in a beer we sought out creative and innovative roasters, then asked them which beans they’re passionate about. Each resulting release of Son of a Baptist is widely different depending on the coffee selected. Some are fruity and sweet with notes of jam and chocolate, others are rich and earthy with a big roasted finish. Each limited release will return to the Roaster’s home market where the beer and the coffee can be sampled side by side.

Beautiful 3 layers in the glass.
I didn’t exactly recognize the aroma but I enjoyed More coffee than chocolate.

The flavor is a mix of flavors with coffee dominating. Everything melds very
well. Coffee with chocolate.
A unique beer.

Nitro, on draft at the Robin Room in Madison, WI. Coffee, earthy, malty, milk chocolate. The nitro lends a smooth and creamy mouthfeel. A pretty solid stout.

Draft at a mellow mushroom. Minimal head, could be the bartender or the beer, which is fine. Malty sweet with a jammy coffee tone that lingers. Smooth mouth feel. Super drinkable.

Dry and malty and hearty. It's a very solid stouty stout. "Look on the bottom of the can to see whose coffee is featured", well the bottom of the can said nothing, but it's a solid chocolate coffee stout nonetheless. In fact I notice a bit more cacao nibs than coffee, but maybe this beer has hit that age where coffee notes start to dissipate. Either way it's a solid beer.

12oz can, purchased from the brewery direct ~$2.00/can
Poured at fridge temp into a tulip glass
Pours abyssal oily black with a thinner tan head
Roasty, sweet, and fresh coffee aroma
Dark black coffee with a tinge of sweetness and some nice accompanying malts.
Very light for 8% and easy drinking - satisfying.
Overall much better than the BA version in my opinion.
