A: pours a clear mahogany with two fingers of beige head that fades into a frothy ring with a little lacing.
S: sweet citrusy hops up front with caramel and vanilla. Oak and bourbon are fairly subtle toward the finish.
T: caramel and vanilla dominate at first with oak, citrusy hops, and slight bourbon. There is a fairly strong hoppy bitterness on the finish. Light alcohol presence.
M: medium body with lowish carbonation, this beer is sticky sweet.
O: a decent bbal barleywine overall, though lacking balance.

Poured into a Stone Imperial glass. Cloudy, light brown color. Head is a minimal one finger and tan in color. Lace somewhat sticky.
Smell is caramelized sugar, vanilla, charred wood, some spice. Bourbon and some alcohol. Quite nice!!
Taste is a lot like the nose. Wood, vanilla, char, caramel, bitter green apple.
Mouth is a bit thin, carbonation is a on the high side. Body is somewhat weak and the finish average long and dry.
Overall I think this is an above average barrel aged Barleywine but when it comes to stuff produced in the state of Arizona this is “State” class. If you get the chance, pick one of these up. Even making a dollar for dollar trade for this wouldn’t be a bad idea.
