very cool beer here, and i love both the size of these new cans and the art on them, a great format for beers like this for a couple of reasons. the first is it makes them more accessible from a price standpoint, the second is that this is such a good dose for one person, no need to find a friend or two for a large bottle of incredibly acidic and expensive beer, no need to make an occasion out of it, rather this format makes a normal session an occasion, and with such bold and polarizing flavors as this, i think its awesome, great call, i cant wait to try the others. this has a nice head on it, amber and pretty clear, holds its froth nicely. the aroma is crazy, very sour for sure, but mature and woody, fruity like red wine barrels for sure, citrus peel, clove and cinnamon, cardamom for sure, vanilla to me, a coconut element maybe, dry dusty baking cocoa powder, tea and black pepper, its very complex, herbal, well blended, and weird, i get more and more the longer it sits. the flavor is curiously cohesive, and as odd as it seems, i think the high degree of sourness unites all the elements, ginger now, more pepper, definite tea bitterness set against the red malt sweetness, preserved lemon, bright cardamom, green peppercorn, more vanilla, like the real thing, fresh scraped beans, so awesome. i am not a huge sour red guy generally speaking, but with all of these extras its insanely unique and i really like it, sour enough to be just a sipper, but its also kind of addicting. my wife loved this and so did i, very unique, even for cascade who always makes super unique beers. awesome recipe, complexity, execution, tastes just like good chai, so interesting! awesome format for an awesome beer!
