Video games are quite realistic these days, but like many of you we grew up on the wonders of 8-bit and 16-bit gaming technology. For our newest RIIPA release, we paid homage to the classic game NBA Jam with the name Boom ShakAzacca! We knew we had to go hard in the paint with the recipe, so we filled up this hazy imperial IPA with wheat and oats, then triple-double dry hopped it with absurd amounts of Azacca, turbo button down the whole way. 8.4% ABV and bursting with juicy tropical flavors, Boom ShakAzacca is about to bring you some “Razzle Dazzle!”

Copper colored with a hazy complexion. There’s a fingernail of eggshell on top. Heavy Brussels lacing. Lots of minuscule fragments are suspended within the body. The aroma is of green veggies and mandarin orange. I’m tasting mandarin oranges and tangerines. The mouth is resinous and the hop burn lingers after the finish.

I got a can of this beer off the single shelf from my local beer store just around the corner. It poured a hazy golden with white head that is leaving some lace. The scent had dabk juicy fruit. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with strong citrus base. The mouthfeel was medium in body and had good carbonation. Overall it is a good beer.

12oz can. Poured out a slightly hazy, golden yellow color with a small, white head of foam. It left sudsy trails of lace on the glass. It smelled of grasses, melon, citrus and toasted caramel. Sweet caramel, melon with a mild bitterness. Crisp, sharp and smooth.

Canned on July 17th. Rotational Imperial India Pale Ale.
It pours only a lightly hazy pale gold with oodles of foam.
It does smell " triple double dry hopped". Loaded with grapefruit, tropical fruit, smells kinda bone dry. Lovely.
Taste is grapefruit, light mango, very light in the dankness department, thankfully, no onions. Has a nice sweetness to go with the mild bitterness. And it does drink dry.
Smooth mouthfeel because of the rather gentle carbonation and body.
Not much sign of the abv.
Very excellent.

this is usually a hop i am not wild about, but they have crafted something delicious here, and definitely introduced a new side of azacca to me with it. hazy but not grossly so, very pale in the glass, a little dense, and with an average white head on it with a pretty quick fade really. the aroma is the best part, purple grape candy to me, a property i have not known in these hops before now. this really caught me off guard, still has some weird earthy underlying herbal properties, especially in the taste, but this purple grape thing is really appealing and distinctive. a light weed character to it in the flavor, a little more generic citrus, and some dull muted dry grain behind it. its nice and fresh, very pungent, and not heavy for its abv or anything. the beer is one of the better expressions of this hop i have ever known, but im still not in love with it, its just strange, especially in the aftertaste, and as good as it smells, it doesnt quite transfer through to the flavor the same. well done beer here from these guys, no surprise, all their hoppy stuff is excellent, but this is brutally expensive for the small can four pack, yikes. on the edge of not being worth it, but i enjoyed these this weekend and always look forward to new flavors from melvin.

12oz canned in late June, poured into a can-shaped nonic; straw gold, medium-ish haze with lasting off-white head and some lacing; unique sweetness emerges on the nose with notes of banana and candy sweetness; lemony citrus; bready malts; and a faint piney/earthiness. Smooth, sweet, and delicious, with well-hidden alcohol; this is a good, unique hazy Imperial IPA. Well done Melvin.

12oz can served in a SIP fest snulip. Dated 05/29/2020.
Pours slightly hazy, bright golden, with a big head. Lots of fine slow carbonation. Smell is a lot of citrus pith. Maybe a little unripe mango.
Taste is more ripe mango, less citrus pith, maybe a hint of pineapple, and I guess I still do get a little of the pith almost as a bitterness in the aftertaste.
Mouthfeel is pretty light and dry. Overall...this is a really drinkable IIPA.

12oz can from Brewers Haven. Medium golden, hazy, half finger persistent creamy head. Sweet fruity aroma, floral, citrus. Taste turns squarely over to the hops, a nice piney bite, green, herbal and floral notes. Citrus peel orbits the hoppiness, so the bitterness is split between the citrus and the pine. Really full feeling.
