vintage 2019
22oz bomber poured into snifter.
Appearance: black bodied beer with brown head. thick cap of head that slowly fades down to no head.
Smell: chocolates, maple, peppers, and bourbon.
Taste: sweet maple, chocolate, bourbon, light coffee notes, and earthy peppers. Hint of oak. The balance and the layers of flavors are unparalleled.
Mouthfeel: medium bodied stout with adequate carbonation levels. No booze or harshness in this drink at all. The peppers add a really nice heat which accentuates the warming sensation of the rich bourbon flavors. The ABV goes completely unnoticed.
Overall: Its been a long time since I have drank a barrel aged mexican cake this good. I have a new appreciation for Mexican cakes & variants. In my opinion they blow away CCB BA Huna, which is probably it biggest rival in the craft beer world. The only ding that I can percieve from this beer is there isn't much coffee going on, but here's the thing... this beer does not need the coffee at all and is incredible as is. So its a mute point.

Bottle. Head fades. Black color.
This has all the flavors. Maple syrup galore, spicy peppers. Vanilla and coffee. No roast. Cinnamon adds more spice. Chocolate and fudge. Nice warming barrel. This has a ton going on and all the right flavors. Wow. Full bodied. The peppers compound as you drink it and it’s spicier.

This one pours a dark black color, with a small head, and a little bit of lacing.
This smells fairly fantastic, with rich sticky maple, very spicy pepper, hot chocolate, fudge, cinnamon, oak, bourbon, and vanilla.
This is incredibly complex and evocative. There's a dry, dark, and spicy chocolate flavor, with a lot of sweet maple, providing an intense contrast that works very well. There's some lightly sweet vanilla. This is absolutely decadent and delicious.
This is thick, slightly syrupy, with not a ton of booziness, and a low carbonation that is still appropriate for the style.
This is really excellent stuff - one of the best Cake variants that I have had.
