We pulled two 4+ year old barrels from our stout library and gave them the Mexican Cake treatment, with the added twist of dried guajillo chiles for some extra complexity. This is a fun one!

Thanks to mbgreg for this one. Sent in NBS BIF #15.
Deep, near black and viscous in the pour. Slight head tries to develop, nut tapers off almost immediately. No lacing.
Nose is dark chocolate, chile, red wine barrel, and tobacco.
Flavor really dances around. Sometimes the flavors seem to meld together, other times they break off and solo a bit. The Chile really brings some heat but a deep, old red wine barrel note to this one. Yes, there's also hints of chocolate, tobacco, and cinnamon, but they definitely are less pronounced.
Mouthfeel is a bit hefty, oily, and warm.
Overall, a firmly committed spicy stout.

Appearance - The beer was tarry black color with a dark tan head.
Smell - The beer smelled like a chocolate humidor. Notes of chocolate and spice were present.
Taste - There was a ton of heat in front from peppers and cinnamon. The profile continued with warming bourbon, chocolate, vanilla, and tobacco. There was burn going down the back of the throat in the finish.
Mouthfeel - The body was like a melted chocolate milkshake with heat.
Overall - I love the heat on this one.

Dark brown appearance with a tan head that recedes slowly to a collar, good retention, good lacing. Cocoa, leather, chili pepper. Thick body, moderate carbonation.Possibly the best Westbrook I’ve had!
