Pours spent motor oil pitch black with a 1 finger foamy brown head that dissipated quickly and left minimal spotty lacing. Rated this assuming that a milk/sweet stout fades to blah and doesn't puff it's feathers like a proud peacock that is the imperial stout.

Smells of dark chocolate, coffee grinds, orange peel, brown sugar, toffee, molasses, raisins and chocolate milk. The rich chocolate-y sweetness almost seems boozy as the cocoa and orange peel mix into a bitter sweet aroma. Very different and enjoyable to inhale.

Taste is different from the nose in that it seems to have more fruit and almost barrel notes coming into play with the dark chocolate, orange peel, brown sugar, cocoa powder, toffee and molasses. The second wave of flavor includes maple syrup, coffee grinds, Hershey's chocolate syrup, raisins, dates or plums, figs, bakers chocolate, light piney hops and fresh squeezed orange juice. The orange compliments the dark, rich chocolate and hides the ABV well but lets some boozy aspects peek through. It's got a liqueur essence like Malibu Rum, almost like a cordial. Thankfully there is enough oats or lactose in the mix to keep the sweetness from being cloying.

Moutfeel is creamy, milky and very smooth, thin and almost watery feeling as it slides down like....chocolate milk. There is a slight bitterness from the orange accents and the sweetness stays on the good side of being too sweet. Nice fruity orange flavors along with other fruity notes combine with the intense rich chocolate to balance each other out while allowing the cocoa to weave through every part of this beer experience.

Overall it was a good beer, and a stout that really hides the 12% ABV well....but, while I did enjoy it, the brew did not excite me like the first time I tried it when it was first released. The price point was decent at $9 for a bomber in NYC, but I'd go for plenty of other Evil Twin beers before I bought this again. If you like orange in your stout then this is one to seek out.

Served in an over-sized wine glass from a 22oz bomber.

Appearance: Thick dark brown to black body with a dark tan head rising to maybe one finger's length off the body. Head drops after two sips with zero lacing coming perfectly even. Resembles a carbonated espresso drink, which is an incredible compliment.

Smell: Smells like oranges and hot cocoa. Nothing complex but definitely delightful smell.

Taste: Super strong tangy feel, little extra sweet oranges and mocha and soft hit of coffee and vanilla bean. You might not realize it but you need to take your time drinking this, it's an obvious palate crusher that has tastes that sneak up on you much later after putting the glass down.

Mouth: Sticky brew, like honey lingering your cheeks. Sweet finish comes off as thirsty quencher but a little heavy. Still great.

Overall: A great beer which delivers better than the milkman, no pun intended. Not crazy about sweet stouts but this one captured my heart and my attention. Salud!

Orange mingles nicely with chocolate on the nose. On the palate, zesty orange hits you right away, followed by baking chocolate. It all dissolves into a smooth bodied stout with just a bit of lactose.

Thanks for sharing as always Emma.

A- Black as motor oil pour from a bomber to several glasses. Small puffy, mocha cap rises displaying decent retention before dying out to a thin ring. Spotty lacing in moderate amounts.

S- Chocolate is huge. Toasted nuts, caramel sweets, coffee and milk sugars. A twist of orange zest.

T- Deep and more intense charred roast barley. Zest is a bit brighter and oily. Fairly sweet but for 12% very reasonably kept in check and nowhere near cloying. Toasted nuts, caramel, lactose and a hint of smoke. Bitter ashy roast. Almost marnier level with time and when the beer warms up.

MF- Supremely thick and oily. About as big as they come. Carbonation is delicate but enough to support the bold flavors. Creamy and decadent. Silky.

Smooth for the ABV and another beastly, bold Evil Twin stout. Orange strong in the end and along with the chocolate helps to set this one apart from other similar brews.
