It's a rotbier, which is actually Nuremberg's take on a Munich's Vienna lager; but, alas that the former isn't exactly well known and this is kinda an American brewery...at least they finally have a space in NYC.
True to its name the beer is rusty brick red. Head is a light tan with really good retention. Coming from this brewery I remind myself of Occam's Razor. Perhaps their least complex beer, but definitely cleanest. Hoppy earthiness, bread crust. Light caramel sweetness and cherry smoke. A really clean lager with fall flavor notes. Lovely carbonation that makes for a fuller, creamy feel despite a light body.
