8 oz. can. Deep murky brown, no head. Smells of vanilla, a little sour cherry, and dark fruit. Tastes of tart cherry and vanilla, rum barrel is strong and takes over in the back end. Heavy, sweet, boozy. Lingering vanilla. Yikes.

Pours out mildly dark brown. Opaque looking pour, with barely a finger of khaki head.
Nose is brown sugar, wood, cherry, that spicy malt that you normally get with quads. On the nose it reminds less of rum and more of Makers Mark 46. Huge wood presence, with mild sweet brown sugar and strong cherry.
Taste is brown sugar, dark bread, strong wood/barrel, cherry, and booze for days. The ethanol blast is really something here. It's overwhelming and abrasive unfortunately. The flavors are good for the most part, but the ethanol layer assaults your taste buds and hurts the delivery of this beer. For 12% it's kind of strange that it's come off so strongly.
Mouthfeel is medium. Feels a touch thin and watery considering the immensity of the rest of this brew.
Overall I thought this brew was gonna be more up my alley. But it came out as a heavy-handed, overbearing mess. I love these flavors together, something Drakes Brewing did with their Island Diaries, but this is not balanced well. It need to done more respectfully. More restraint. And less expensive

Great find amongst the single bottles available at my local Shop Rite in Little
Falls NJ.
10$ for and 8 oz can in’s the ideas but I love Quads, Barleywines etc so I’m happy to try something from a talented brewer.
Classic Quad smells and taste with booze soaked fruits and decadence but the complexity is nowhere to be found.
The combination of the barrels drowns out the base beer and the only thing left is a boozy bomb beer.
The presence of the base beer does make an appearance in the first sip but over time the alcohol really drowns out the product in my opinion.
This beer is decent but not 10$ for 8oz worth it. Good to try but I’ll surely pass if I see it again.

Served ina teku glass.
Appearance: Mahogany colored brew with medium bubbles to the body. Head rose to almost nada coming off maybe 2mm off the body the brew.
Smell: Complex vanilla with whiskey aroma which hugs the nose.
Taste: Sweet yet not dessert like with heavy hints off toffee and slightly coconut with rum. Sticks to you cheeks like brown on chocolate.
Mouth: Sticky body with a soft carbonation. Full after taste.
Overall: Incredibly glad I bought this. A classic that I will never let go. Might be a hybrid barley wine granted has a yeast finish at the end which which reminisces of the classic belgian classic with a twist. Salud!
