Viscous prune juice coloration on the pour. Hardly any agitated carbonation, with noticeable leg retention on the glass as it settles flat.
The nose is LOADED with prunes, fortified wine, Caramellos, and just a hint of char.
Palate comes on strong with rich toffee, chocolate-dipped raisins, and candied dark fruits. The mid-palate really features that barrel; dry baking cocoa, scorched oak, and a touch of vanilla.
A touch syrupy, but great overall weight and an alarming smoothness given the ABV. On the back end is a touch of bitterness, pleasant warmth, and beautiful length.
