Received a can via the Barleywine/Stout BIF on 11-4-23. Canned 3-30-23; consumed 6-20-24.
Beer poured dark reddish brown with a lot of secondary fermentation going on which leaves a nice head after it settles down.
Nose is classic EBW, getting notes of caramel and dark fruits.
Taste is a large toasted caramel malt base that gives me some toffee and caramel. There is an edge to this that leaves a toasty, resiny coating finish. Almost makes in an American BW with that touch of edge.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied and smooth.
Overall this is a flavorful brew that i could definitely have again. Thanks Mike!

Oi where to begin with this mess? It is like they tried to go classic barleywine with great gnarling barley and pine hops, but then they used hyper sweet caramel malt that just pumps up the resin with some orange so much it almost cloys, leaving two extremes clashing on the palate, oh and it is hot with booziness as it warms too. Nose has a pleasant tobacco and earth tone with the barley, but pine and candy taffy caramel are there too, not offensive though. Feel is hot and has plenty of fight to it with the barley, but just syrupy after that, doesn't dry out enough for the style nor is the depth there. But hey it looks great with the lighter brown body and tan head head and thick bands of lacing

16oz can from Tavour. Mahogany pour with a persistent thick tan head, lacing all the way down. Sweet malty aroma, toffee, boozy. I sense something amazing coming. I'm not wrong. Sweet malty taste, boozy, toffee, light leathery notes, tobacco. No adjuncts! Pure malty goodness. Sipping on a gorgeous spring evening. Life is good!

Served warm, had an unpleasant swampy piney funk like an old ipa that has skunked. Mostly endless foaming head. disappointing
