It's a nice beer. Not too rough around the edges like some. Light carbonation. Definitely big notes of that caramel. I didn't even think the alcohol contently was nearly that high. It hides it SUPER well.

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a dark, reddish mahogany brown, with modest light transmission in the glass and quarter finger off-white head that dissipates to patches with light lacing. Aroma of dry caramel malt, dates, maple syrup and vanilla. Flavor is lightly biscuit and dry caramel malt, dates, raisins, maple syrup and vanilla with light to moderate grassy bitterness in the finish. Medium bodied with moderate creaminess. An interesting take on the old ale style. At first I was hoping for more assertive biscuit malt typical of old ales, but the maple and vanilla really were a satisfying addition. Both for the adjuncts are well balanced with the overall taste. The bitterness in the finish was also a surprise at first; usually absent in traditional beers of this style. All of this oddness grew on me as I drank this. A unique and delicious high ABV brew. Nicely done.
