On draft in a pint glass. Dark color: no head. Paired with crab cake. Very little carbonation. A bit of lacing, but nothing extraordinary. First sip hints at some sweetness in the front, but the middle is largely ho-hum and the end is bitter lingering espresso. The beer was served a bit too cold, but warming did little too improve. Filling; In the end, too much bitterness without enough countering sweetness. Interesting pour, but would not revisit.

Poured a black body that had about an inch head and some minor head and lace. Mostly I am greeted by roasted malts in the aroma with some dark chocolate but very little else in terms of hops. Beer is smooth, light to medium bodied, especially for a stout, mostly dry thanks to the roasted malts and a touch of hop bitterness but I like the balance coming from the chocolate malts. Not complex or too flavorful but not bad and finishes rather real dry, almost crisp, thanks to a little hop bit. I will note that some previous reviews state that the hops are the dominant portion of the beer but I found the malts to be a little more assertive.
