Type: 16-oz. can
Reviewed as: New England IPA
Glass: Pure Project 16-oz. brandy snifter glass
Price: $3.79
From: Windmill Farms in Del Cerro (San Diego), Calif.
Purchased: Feb. 26, 2021
Consumed: March 4, 2021
Misc.: Canned on Jan. 26, 2021

Got this and a handful of other beers on a recent trip to Windmill Farms. Not a lot of descriptions I could find for it, but the back of the can called it a “Hazy IPA brewed with raspberries, blueberries, vanilla and lactose.”

Poured a hazy amber color with two fingers of frothy off-white head. Could see some bubbles creeping up along the sides of the glass. Outstanding spotty lacing. Very good retention. (Sight - 4.00)

Smelled pretty damn good from the beginning. Got raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, vanilla, rose petal, floral, perfume, mixed berry, raspberry ice cream and hints of strawberry. No mention of hops but Mosaic has to be part of it. Not quite as good out of the can. (Smell - 4.25)

Taste wasn’t quite as good as the nose. Got raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, rose petal, floral, perfume, vanilla, guava, mango, mixed berry and raspberry ice cream. Would think Mosaic and El Dorado would be a part of this. (Taste - 4.00)

Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Dry finish. (Feel - 4.00)

This was much better than I thought it would be. I think I underrated this slightly, but outstanding at least. (Overall - 4.00)

Look: Pours a hazy grapefruit red, almost burnt orange with a modest head
Smell/Taste: Los of berry flavors and vanilla, and a little citrus in the background. Not bitter
Feel: Very smooth. Modest carbonation. Good mouthfeel. Good finish.
Overall: Oh yeah. And the can art is really cool.

Poured into a tall tulip glass about 5 weeks after canning. Less than 1 finger of fizzy head that quickly diminished to nothing. No lacing. Looks like ruby red grapefruit juice. Opaque. blueberries and raspberry on nose. Weird taste that I would not identify as "beer". I'm getting as much grapefruit as berry. I would never have guessed that this was sold as an IPA...More like a fruit-flavored seltzer with thicker body. Prickly mouthfeel from carbonation. I'm not sure who this is brewed for....apparently not for beer drinkers. Never again.

A 'hazy IPA brewed with raspberries, blueberries, vanilla, and lactose."
A muddled grapefruit slushy look. Fluffy head rises almost 2 fingers but quickly shirks its duty and retreats to a thin ring.
Nose is a vanilla tinged blueberry smoothie with slight undertones of raspberry and citrus.
Taste follows pretty faithfully to the nose. Not picking up much of a IPA vibe.
Mouthfeel is not quite hazy IPA, a little more pulpy. So I don't really know how to write this up.
Overall, for style guidelines, this is not quite to style. But the fruity notes are still a bit pleasant.
